If my meter is calibrated correctly

Then why does my girl look so well? According to my meter ph5.6 temp76-78 ppm1550. Going on second week with gh flora series 3-2-1 and shes looking nice and green, perky and full. I'm guessing I may need to recilbrate the meter.

Soil or hydro?

If she's looking " nice and green perky and full" why would you think your meter is off?

Because word on the street is the ppm should be around 300-400 for early veg. I'm doing hydro by the way.

I'm not a hydro guy, but I know 5.8-6.0 is perfect so 5.6 should be good. As for ppms, some plants can handle more than others. If your not getting nute burn, I'd say keep doing what your doing.

Ok here are some basics to hydro.

Set your reservoir to whatever level you normally do. For example 1400ppm.

Then test your reservoir after a full 24hour cycle.

If your ppm is increasing in the return then you are feeding too heavily.


So if you get a return over 1500ppm your nutes are too strong.


Try to find the sweet spot where it returns back at almost the same ppm it was set to.



PH should be anything from 5.2-6.2 so your ph is fine.

GH says for aggressive veg with the flora series on the 3rd week the ppm should be 1000-1300. Why am I getting input that the ppm should be around 300-400 at the point I'm at right now? This is all pretty confusing and kinda makes me want to bag it and just buy local.
