Now this is interesting and worth considering. But curious why it's not on rapidled's site.

I am doing a side by side grow with Black Dogs Platinum, and Rapid LED. So far I am very impressed with the outcome. Although the Black Dog Platinum is awesome, the Rapid LED seems to be outgrowing the BD. Not by much, but the plants under the Rapid are more bushier, and a tad taller. BD is pulling 750 watts, which is very good, but the Rapid is pulling I think 220 watts and the lights are more intense. BD produces some very good end product. We will see who wins in just a few more weeks.

Rapid LED has yet to advertise this new light because it is very new. They specialize in aquarium LED's and just now are entering the hyrdo market. We are considering replacing the BD and going all Rapid.

Hope someone can easily and simply help me.....
I'd like to grow a single plant from a single seed here in my bedroom.
Can anyone please suggest to me a good led light to use that would be best to produce a nice plant for me?
Also, is it a general rule of thumb to keep the light approx. 4 inches above the plant at all times? How many hours of light should I provide to the plant?
Would the intensity and duration of the light provided fluctuate as the plant grows?
In a nutshell how am I to successfully establish a I nice successful plant?
Thanks in advance!

Awesome, thanks for the information. Glad to hear the rapid unit is rocking hard. Are you using the newer black dog platinum xl-u or the older platinum in the comparison? I'd love to see some pics if you would be so kind. How far into the grow are you, flowering yet??? I was interested in the diy kits at rapid but if this unit kicks ass and isn't too much more in price, it could be a nice consideration. Also see you are in hayward, that pretty much makes us neighbors. Always glad to see someone else local around these parts.

Sorry it took so long for me to reply, I've recently been without proper internet.
Eraserhead says that the SGS's yield a little bit better due to the more direct lenses and red/white spectrum.
He's always spot on about his lights and I trust his data.
I would probably go all XGS because I like things to match and look uniform.
That being said, if you want to go for two SGS's and two XGS's in your tent, go for it, because you really can't go wrong with A51 LED's.
Thanks for the response! I decided to go with all XGS for this cabinet. I know what you mean about uniformity!

so I just recieved my 2 80 watt han's panels and noticed that the only thing different between the 80 watt and the 65 watt is the power supply, Makes me wonder if I order the correct power supply for the 80 Watt if I can run my 65 watt panels at 80 watts instead. Literally same plug same same exact panels, as far as I can tell just a different power supply. Any thought on this L.e.d. veteran's???

Hey all, so I have a 4 by 4 tent and am currently running a 600w hid with 440cfm inline. I have no way of venting out the area and have bad temp problems so I wanted to try some LEDs this coming summer. I have been doing a lot of reading on the subject and checking the threads. I don't want to spend thousands of dollars on something I may end up not liking the results from so I come to the decision of 2 is these.http://www.bsled.com/SP151D-140W-UFO-LED-Grow-Light-65.html. They run about 193+shipping, I'm thinking since its a fully reflective tent these would do the job. Any thoughts?

"The leds are the same, however the current protection inside the panel is set to a higher value. So your panel might not work properly with the 80 watt supply."

Thats from Hans himself, which is a bummer since I was hoping I could upgrade my 60w panel by just buying his new power supply. Oh well... :)

So if it's "current protection", then it's probably just a few resistors that need to be swapped out. Any volunteers want to open up their 65 watt and 80 watt panels?

I see some familiar faces here:).What's up guys?

As some of you know I'm a cfl user, well I bought an a19 10w =to 75w 850lm led bulb to check it out and like how bright it is.I want to replace my existing 12 cfls for 6 led bulbs.I would be able to use 12 led bulbs in splitters if the bulbs were cheap enough.

My question is...Which of the a19 shaped led bulbs is the best?

I noticed the 40,60,75w bulbs are shaped this way but any higher wattage are shaped differently(bigger).I guess I'll say I saw a 15w =to 125w 2000lm bulb $49.99:shock:from...xledia?...I think:eyesmoke:The one I bought was $9.99
I've already looked on Amazon,1000bulbs.The a19 shaped ones would fit best in my fixtures.

Any suggestions?opinions?recommendations?I'd appreciate it.peace

Anyone have an opinion or experience using the Blackstar Chrome 720 or the XML 350 Advanced LED Lights?
Go with advanced 350 xml, from those two options....

What's up buddy.........Go to home depot and buy as many Cree led bulbs you can afford. Best on the market for the price.

Check coccola monster panel with them https://www.rollitup.org/led-other-lighting/792746-diy-cococola-k-i-s-2.html

Four "300w" led panels for $600 sold at a profit===== STAY AWAY...... they will be paperweights in less than a year, and you'll be out of $600;)

Ok gonna pull the trigger today on some area 51 gear but which one the financial difference is negligible to me whats another hundred on a g anyway I use leds as supplemental lights my flowering room has 2 600 watt sodiums and an aging blackstar 240 from 2011 ( yes it still works every diode). the blackstar I would be replacing with the a51 led. I veg with a single 600 watt halide we'll be leaving that one be. starts, clones, seedlings currently live under 400 watt halide will also be replacing this one with a51 gear but which light should I score the sgs or the xgs please say someone has run a comparison on them and knows which actually preforms better harvest wise?

Veg- SGS on 120, kick on the reds for an easier transition..

12/12- up in the air, but 'karma had just said 51 even goes with WR's, either panel would do great but I think the get more watt for watt with the SGS (same housing, less draw)

ans I like the option of changing the whole spectrum instead of just draw...

(I am completely biased)

Thanks scotch, I read through like 170 pages of this thread before I asked gave up the last 30 or so yeah my girls seem to like the extra funky spectrum and i would have missed the nightclub effect in my grow I appreciate the input

I have been growing 3 plants per grow under a 250 watt MH/HPS setup for a little over a year now, but am now looking to switch over to LED because of its efficiency and energy savings. I need to know what LED grow light I need to buy that I will be able to grow 3 plants under with good yields in a 4'x4'x6' grow box. Would like it to at least equal what my 250 watt MH/HPS can do if not more. Any and all help is appreciated and I look forward to everyone's opinions and information.
