hey RIU, long time admirer, first time poster. i've been growing for a few years now, mostly outdoor (got about a dozen auto's out atm), but i have grown indoors with a 600w hps in a very simple set up and having experience the unbridled heat of a hps lamp i'm looking at led for my next indoor grow. specifically was looking at either getting two han's panels or an a51 sgs 160 for my 2.25'x1.75'x5' cabinet grow and was wondering your opinons on what to go for. Also was wondering how essential having a warm white bulb is if i go for the hans (would fairy lights suffice).
I'm not sure what fairy lights are - string of very low wattage LED white lights? If they are, then I'd think they wouldn't do much for you. Most any usual warm white source - CFL, T5, LED bulbs, etc - would suffice for just a little white spectrum.

Between the two choices, you can't lose.

basically yes, do you think there will be alot of difference if i chose not to get a warm white supplement (let's say a 125w cfl) and just stuck to 2 hans than if i chose to?

The grows that I've seen have been panels only and they got excellent results. My experience with just red blue suggests that even better response might be had with a little white light. A couple/few low wattage bulbs - CFL or LED - would probably be plenty to get the little extra boost...but please notice the word might...so the answer is No, I don't think it will make a lot of difference.

Hi I am new to this forum and this will be me first real MJ grow. I have a space that is 4'x4' with a 6' vertical space. It is possible that in the future I could expand my grow space to 4'x7'. I would prefer to go LED, since I don't want high electricity bills or to deal with heat issues. My goal is to achieve high quality nug, with yield being my second most important goal. I'm open to grow setups and am familiar with SCROG. I feel comfortable with a DIY project if it's worth it(best for my situation, costs, etc) with the right guidance of course. Also Ive been reading through the forums and If I could be of help to some people comparing LEDs I am open to this. All that being said I have enough projects going on at my house so, I don't mind spending up to say $2k(max) on the right lights. My instinct tells me Area 51, but they are currently out of stock, for a few days. Anyway any advice or guidance from experienced LED growers would be of help. I also would like to apologize if I have broken any forum rules or etiquette. Id also like to thank all the people here who make this possible. Please feel free to PM me.

SGS-160 All The Way.But Iam Biased I Own 5 Area-51 Panels 2-A135's And 3 SGS-160's And I Love Them All :weed:
tbh it's a struggle to find an unbiased opinion anywhere on this site especially in the LED section, but at least your not one of these people who come on here and their first till last post is to shamelessly plug a brand of light whether it be american or chinese knock off and attack anyone who doesn't share their point of view

yeah the apaches are outrageously expensive but it would be nice to say "i've got a bit of kit nasa uses", i think the other are a tad too much also the blackstars look ok but from what i can see the a51 has better tech and i can just about afford it, i guess either way i go i'm probably gonna save money in the long run (long time for apaches though).

Apache's($750) aren't that much more expensive than a51($550). Considering that they are the original and have been available for 4+years already, plus are actually used by nasa makes the extra price worth it.
Not to mention as of tomorrow the AT200 is available...almost 2X the outputof a51sgs160/original AT120...AT200=1940umol@12". So don't let the price keep you away/settling for less...they're more affordable than you think and now worth it more than ever.

really? on their website they are like $1,100 and the cheapest i can find else where is $850, so i imagine the at200 is probably going to be more, i just don't have that sort of cash right now.

Anyone got any experience with GLH Spectras? I ordered two of these, they are new in box and never used, about 2 years ago. Costly lights that I have never had a use for and just bought on a whim.

Anyone here using the Lumigrow series? I have the 325 and am very anxious to get my medicinal garden up and running soon. It will be used in a DR90 grow closet. The actual grow area
will be 2x3ft. Is my light enough coverage for say 6 ladies? BTW I was impressed when it pulled an actual 325watts at full power measured with an inline watt meter.

No joke man...there is a code(rbk331) floating around on here that brings them to $750. I understand they are pricey but the quality is worth it. Apache's website blows. Call them if you are serious about it or eventually they will get shit together and update the site. The AT200 will be same price as the at120 was and the code will work on all new products for discounts. They have a bigger unit that will be pricier and way more watts for bigger coverage.

The point about lights and why by certain ones is...most lights are just one of 3 chinese factories rebranded under a reseller name...and why most hate the idea of "chinese lights". They are all the same so might as well just go straight to the source if you are looking for a bargain. Even people who use top dollar units recommend going straight through china if going the cheap bargain route.
But if you know and understand quality there are a handful of American companies that build good units that perform to with top notch numbers...Apache, A51, CaliLightWorks, even lumigro quality. Then just a couple euro brands that are special...hans like one other(I'm not a euro light expert).
Bottom line is that you get what you pay for...specially with led's. Even the junkiest lights can pull off a good run...but the good lights will perform run after run with no problems.
