I don't think the Mars hydros are going to save you much on energy or heat. There are a lot of options out there for the 700$ price

Thanks for the feedback guys. Would it be any difference in my 4-6 plants if i ised the 900W version instead of the 700W Mars Hydro II?
If you want to see the differance in good light & not do good but both claimed quality lights, come by my thread. White vs. Burple Kind've.

I think the best advice for anyone purchasing lights is really to plan the future first. Buying what you can afford is priority but only buy what you can use in conjunction with the future lights you may someday own. The Amare lights can be purchased individually or as a complete badass setup - modular.

If money is real right I might recommend going with a cmh 315. They can always be used for flower and will thrive during veg. This still leaves the light in a positive place. At 43% efficient they are much better than most hps. Now if you have a little more to spend I would absolutely go for a quality company's led or cob units that uses Cree possibly that run 50+% efficient. Cobs are much simpler to construct and therefor have a little lower price tag.

You could double the output of that for the same price if you DIY, and spread the light over a greater area.

I'm sort of cheating because these Citizen cobs are new and hard to get ahold of, but this is a 50,000 lumen light you could order right now. Also sort of cheating because it's 70CRI, but whatevs.

Oh and PS: screw ebay cobs.

Edited to add obviously you'd need money to wire and hang these, probably another $50 depending on what you have. It'd be possible to run 9 lights if you got an HLG-185H for $4 more and ran 5 cobs on that one, plus the $12.50 for another light. Nice and square.

Also edited to add my personal build total came out to maybe $150 less than a 4 lamp Tastyled build but has no lenses, or box, or switches and IEC ports and all that nice infrastucture. They are a great deal, and obviously a labor of love. Same with PLC, NGL, and the rest.
what site is that your using for the screenshot? and by cheating do you mean that the 70cri are inferior to a 80-90 cri?

Well just that the 70 CRI versions make higher lumens and most people compare between 80 CRI versions. I have no idea which is superior; people choose both.

Website is CDI, although I see TME has the 4000k 80CRI in stock as well. Either way, you aren't going to beat those numbers at that price.

Yeah I went back and forth between CMH and a cob build. Pretty sure there was no wrong decision there, the 315s are great. I'd much rather one of those than anything from Mars.
Our local shop has the phantom for 380, just one bulb of choice but a remote ballast with a 12' cord for that extra heat savings.

You all work for the manufacturers? I have never seen the test LED vs HPS real. Here in the Czech Republic .One boy tests here:

Nope just want to make sure if I drop some coins on something it's not going to be junk heh. With led you should invest time to learn other wise you may get some crummy over priced weight.

Investing that time allows you to pick a light that meets good standards or allows you to build your own crazy system.

I didn't watch full grown, I only seen results.

I hope a for a reply for the both of us. I would love to build a 6"x96" 6 cob light with the 3590's or 3070's that would be some intense side lighting
