Those are pretty sweet. But those UFO's are pretty sweet looking too. Apollo seems to be a widely accepted brand in this thread, does anyone have experience with either the HD Cree Bulb or the UFO?
Its nice to see some of these LEDs trickling onto Amazon.
Final question, does anyone know if any of these up and coming companies are publicly traded yet?

I'm going to buy one. It's way more LEDs for the money than I'd get with the bulbs. Plus I don't have to dick with building some crazy DIY fixture. It's an experiment and I'm taking only a small risk. I'll make sure to report on it here.

Let's see what $100 gets you. It's Amazon, so I can always send it back if it's total shit. I'll throw it on a kill-a-watt and see what it actually draws. If it grows out seeds without too much stretching, then it's worth it.

The price is right, pretty decent spectrums, though I would not want IR in the panel. They don't last, and only need to be on a few minutes/hours a day

The cheap ones tend to burn out sooner, than quality IR diodes. Most lenses are plastic. I have read that they will cloud up fairly quickly

It makes sense that some costs may be cut in order to make them so affordable. Pretty nice price for a 2 sq foot footprint and a nice little evaluation run. Lenses should be replaceable with a trip to the hardware store and a couple basic tools I would think though.
Please share your journal and/or post pics in this thread. This thread is seriously lacking in that regard. Lots of advice and people buying lights, very little feedback and pictures to support and warrant the purchases.

And the lenses have nothing to do with the diode itself....that must relate to another issue.
Please direct me to a high quality IR diode.

Yes...hence the reference to them... and it will be interesting to see how they get the plants to respond with relatively cheap diodes. I already have some 5w (4 chippers) which you will see in a coming thread....
But i was wanting to know Petflora's idea of a quality IR diode...as i dont think there has been much on the 'DIY IR' front so far...at least in this forum...

this effect can be seen on cheap UV diodes, not on IR diodes. think about sunburn

Hey guys I've been trying super hard to find this answer.
Just looking for a ballpark. A cheap eBay china led says its 300w I believe it's only 230w from what I read. Isn't calling this 300w the same as using the equivalent wattage of a cfl. ie a 150w 5500 cfl is really only 80w and you have to go by the 80w to see how many you need per plant. How do you figure this out for led. I am trying to build the most efficient system of equal wattage and equal price wether it be cfl, led or t5. I have no problem comparing the t5 and the cfl wattage for how many ill need but I can't figure out for an led if It says it's 300w and I go by that I'm good for 3 plants
Btw this is only or vegging I'm going 400w hps to bloom
