Illinois Strain

Hello, first time grower here. I'm going to attempt to do a small grow outside. I live in illinois and was wondering what a good strain would be for its weather? Also, any tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

eh.. not sure about illinois. Probably anything mostly indica would last. For a first time i'd probably go with Norther Lights

Best to go with the indica dominant strains. I had success last year with Vortex(TGA), Rock-Lock(DNA) feminized and Cannadential(DNA). All were planted really late due to weather conditions but i still had success. I started a grow journal for it somewhere, but never had a chance to finish it because my computer was out of commission for a couple months. Lost out on a few months of vegging last year, hope to get them in the ground much sooner this spring. When do all the rest of you illini folk get your plants in the ground? I realize there may be a week or two difference between the north and south regions of the state.

White Widow is great for a first time grow - inside or out. I know a guy who grew it last year outdoors and still has some left - it was a huge yield with very little care needed. He started them inside and then planted outside in the ground in early April. Harvested in early November. I think he got the seeds from Nirvana or an online place like that.
