Hello guys i just want to know if my plants look healthy and if my setup is right, and if my light is properly placed and im a noob although its obvious.
Setup details: im using 2 40watt cfls a machine that changes room air and blows on my plant, its an afghan kush strain, aluminum foil as a light reflector, a heating pad under the pot to dry the soil and the soil i use is best greens potting soil the plant is about 2 weeks old with 24 hour lighting, thanks in advance i moved away the power bars for safety so no need to comment about thatt and i moved the bulbs so they dont touch.

Lights are a little close. Can see signs of heat stress. Foil doesnt reflect anything...get proper material. Heat pad isnt required. Youll need a lot more light very soon. Add perlite when you transplant.

Ill move up the lightt, ill remove the heating pad, ill get alot more lights, but what do i put instead of the foil i don't wanna dye it white, and i did transplant it

If you don't want to paint the space white you need to get a reflective surface like mylar.

I could be wrong, but you might want to figure out a way to have the lights sideways over the plant. The bulbs distribute the light better on their sides. If you haven't already pickup some mylar from walmart. Go to the auto-zone section and find the big windshield reflectors for keeping out heat. It is usually foam covered with mylar to reflect, I found it is very easy to cut out what you need and work with.
Also, I don't know how many lumens those 2 bulbs are pushing, but you look like you will need more lights. Here is very good info on cfl's.

100w equivalent CFL's produce around 1600 lumens each and use around 23w-26w per bulb. . It's generally accepted that to produce ample flowers you should have between 6000 - 10,000 lumes per sqft. To get good bud you should surround the plant as best as possible and make sure that each bud site is getting good light by manipulating the branches using some sort of ties. You will want probably 8-10 bulbs when the plant starts to show signs of flowering (3-4 weeks after sprout). until the end of week three 3-4 bulbs is sufficient. In week 4 your plant will start to show signs of significant growth.

CFL's should be kept within a few inches of the plant, but be careful because they will burn the plant if they touch it.

The Kelvin rating is important. Autos seem to do best with a mixed spectrum. So to have some bright white and soft white bulbs may be good.
  • 2700k = soft white. This light is redish/orangish this is most useful in flower as it mimics the fall sunlight.
  • 5000-6500k bulbs are white to almost blue. These are normally called "daylight" . These mimic the spring and summer light and are normally used for vegetative growth. These bulbs help to keep plants short and bushy rather than tall and stretchy.
  • Between 3000k-5000k I have read that there really isn't a lot of useable light for the plants. 2700k and 6500k would seem to be the best.

make sure u have a fan blowing and ur pots have drain holes. don't over water. every 3 days is good til u get runoff, then wait 3-4 days. when I was cfl growing I had 29 23w bulbs on one bedroom circuit with no issues fyi. fo 4 girls in 5 gal pots
