Hello, this is my first post. I've been reading this forum for a about 4 weeks on and off. Seems like much info here. I've never grown anything and certainly have no green thumb. I just got a Aero Garden pro 200 today. I thought this may be fun way to get started in the world of indoor home grown. I've seen that there have been some people here that have had good luck with this machine. Not looking for a new career, just tired of relying on others to get a bag of overpriced crap. I'd like to yield an ounce a month eventually. Thanks for any info.

Thanks for the welcome fellas! Ok, I'll look into the HPS lights. What is a good vendor? Already a good tip. thanks!
Should I try the seed kits that come with the AG just to get my feet wet?
I ordered some seeds from Nirvana, the PPP. I hope I didn't waste my money.
I have some regular bag seeds from the past 6 months. Would you all recommend a trial run with the bag seeds first?

Oh yeah, the avatar is from the British comedy "little Britain" they have a series on HBO. It's some funny shit. Check em out.

Yea same the seeds you ordered, you can get good buds out of bag seed, as long as you take care of any plant, no matter the strain, you will get decent results, let us kno when you get started

Please return the aerogarden and get your money back. If you do that you'll have enough money to easily grow the amount you are asking for.

I'm sorry, but the aerogarden is way too small and has way too little light to be of use to you if you're trying to free yourself from dealers and grow even half way close to your ounce a month.

Just fyi one 150w hps over soil can yield 3 or more ounces a month, but not in an aerogarden even with the hps. It is just too small.

The same money you have in that could actually yield 1lb per month if you just take my advice and if you need handholding I'll do it just to save another person from the aerogarden.

See these lights:

They're $20 and just one with some $5 dirt and nothing else will outgrow an aerogarden by many times the amount of smoke.

Thanks for the info, You sound like a veteran, and what your saying would be cool to do, but I'm totally new to any kind of gardening. I need to learn the basics I think.

I started mine out in the aerogarden but had to move it out when I was ready to start blooming. Its great for growing lettuce and other herbs tho, to me, totally worth the money. If I ever do this again, I will totally start them out in the aerogarden.

Does this look right?

I started the seeds in the AG foam, I know now I should have in a paper towel. The root is really long in the water for 8 days.

Easy on the nutes Slick. It looks like your babies are getting a bit of burn to start off. For the first couple of weeks, i'd recommend just low pH water. If you want to add some of those starter nutes, just put a little bit in the tank. The full tablets are a bit strong for your ganja. There are plenty of aerogarden bashers out there, and the reason is b/c the machine is over priced compared to a DYI setup. I had a successful grow with my aerogarden, and I loved it. But it was an impulse buy and I had the cash to blow. If I were to grow again, I'd do it right and build my own setup though. My yield was about 45 grams or so. And there's no way in hell it could keep me supplied. But it's still fun to play with. Goodluck!

Yeah, I dropped in the suggested nutes for the herb kit, I was originally going to try growing the herbs and then I got curious. Yeah, this AG was a present so I'm going to use it. Once I learn more I may try a DIY. SICC, I'll covers those up. I did kinda think about that this morning. I'm probably looking at flushing the tank and strating over. I need to move the system to another room for serious growing. It's out in the open in the kitchen, I was in hurry to set it up. thanks yall.

Do you all think that these leaves are suffering from terrible nute burn? I'm just playing now.
I'm going to start over. I've since moved my AG to a room that I can actually set stuff up more permanent and not have to worry about visitors in the kitchen. I went to Lowes and got a air duct (to make another hood) and then installed 4 100w CFLs inside of it and then took the AG hood and mounted to the side. I got my fan in the mail and I also have a small heater that has a built in temp gauge that is supposed to maintain a steady temp.
I put in a air stone. I'm dumping these. What is an easy way to empty and flush the tank?
This AG needs a built in drain. I may look for something that can be mounted to the res to make for easier dumping. I never understood why my cars tranmission didn't come with a built in trans pan drain plug??? Makes it a real bitch draining.

I moved the AG to another room around the last of January. Started some bag seed in a cup o water and they cracked on Feb 1st. Planted them into the AG on the 2nd of Feb. I'm on the end of 5th week from seed crack. I put them into flower last Tuesday (03/02/09). I've been running Humidity an avg. of 50%. PH is is spot on. Check it everyday. Vegged with stock AG hood and 4 100w CFL for the first 2 weeks, then added 6 more 100w 65K cfls. Then adding a Illuminator UFO (blue/red/orange spectrum) last week of veg. Changed out 10 cfls and put in 9 1600K cfls and 1 2600k 125w cfl with UFO (I Know LEDs don't work, but I leave for several days and am not comfortable with HID heat, hopfully energy use will be low too) Been using stock Nutes for 4 weeks, then went to Foxfarms nutes this past week. Don't know if they are fem or dude yet.
