Im a noob! 2x2 Coolgrows grow tent.

Im looking for a decent Fan and carbon filter for it but i get all sideways reading reviews from amazon on all the different ones. I currently just have a honeywell fan venting out of the top and the bottom flaps open. Temps and humidity are doing great but i know the smell will become an issue pretty soon, Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank's guys!

How tall is the tent?

I have all Ipower equipment from Amazon. I've only had it 2 months but so far zero complaints. Definitely get a speed controller with it which comes in handy.

2x2 feet. I ended up buying the Vivosun 6" combo with a carbon filter and ducting. It came today. I plan on setting it up Saturday. Sorry for the late reply. Been super busy lately with work.

I'm no expert but a 6" fan/filter sounds like way to much cfm for a 2x2 tent. I have a 4x4x7 and the 6" inline fan was imploding my tent like a black hole, even with the bottom vents open and the controller set to low. Loud too. Now I'm using a 4" inline fan/filter on medium speed with two 4" booster fans for intake (instead of the mesh vents to avoid light leaks) and it still pulls the walls of the tent in a little for negative pressure. I'm pretty sure the air exchange rate to shoot for is once every five minutes. So for my tent that has 112 cubic feet(4x4x7=112) the 190cfm 4" fan completely circulates the air about once a minute on medium speed with a carbon filter. Your 2x2x4 is only 16 cubic feet...you're gonna be movin' some serious air through there man. Humidity might fall off hard. I think I read somewhere that 4" inline is as small as you can go to still use a carbon filter though. Who knows though, that 6" might work great. Trial and error kind of stuff when you first start out.
As for smell advice, the carbon filter was simply not enough so I got some Ona Pro. I put a small dish of it right in the ducting just past my furnace and it treats the whole house. It dries out after about a week but a gallon should last a whole cycle or more.
Plant looks ok to me, maybe a little bright on top, but I'm a hydro guy so I really can't say for soil.

Yea i hope i didnt go overkill for this size tent. I checked out the fan already and i wish the speed controller was a little better so i could turn it down lower. I am already wishing i had bout a 2x2x5 but space is limited to that size unless i go outside in the barn but then i would have to learn all of that stuff and i would definitely need a/c in the summer.

where there's a will there's a way, I gotta believe you'll pull some buds outta that tent. training for low height will probably be the biggest part but if you're growing just the one I would say it's totally do-able in that space. How long do plan to veg for?

I really have no idea. What would be suggested? I am going to be gone for 8 days in June but i have someone that can water for me. I am thinking start veg in 2-3 weeks maybe depending on growth. I plan on low stress training it some to get a few more cola's.

a good rule of thumb on ventilation. you want 3 air exchanges per minute. Take the LXWXH so say its 10x10x10 1000. you would want 3000cfm fan for optimal air exchange. on a 2x4x5 tent it would be 150CFM on the exhaust side. U run a passive intake and then throw a tower type fan in there just to spread the air around to the dead spots (spots where u would expect not enough air) your goal is to get the 3 air exchanges per minute, and on top of that have an oscillating fan not on too high but not too low during flowering (for fear of mold) so that the oscillating fan will "wiggle the leaves" a bit. If theyre constantly wiggling like crazy your plant will be over traspirating(kind of like breathing) and now the plant spends its efforts more on dealing with this
(it will still grow) than producing vegetation. you may want to buy a dimmer for that fan so you only have to crank it up when it gets hotter in there. you should have a thermometer at the top of the canopy in a shaded area and also one in front of the passive intake. from the intake reading u will get an idea of root temps and from the one at the top of the foliage will tell you if you need to turn up that fan speed

your plants look good but maybe they are drying out or getting too cold cause of the high amount of wind and growing a lil wierd?

also look up the specs on ur light it looks like it could maybe be closer like 18"-24" away from the top of the canopy.

little things like these are amazing when you know to control them how it will effect your plants

The problem I had with too much air flow was that the sides of the tent were sucking in so far that I was losing grow space. I had a 6" in a 4x4x7 using the vents at the bottom for passive and the sides were still imploding. My 4" does the same unless I turn the speed down too.
Besides the space implosion issue, it seemed like there was way too much negative pressure. I've read some different material about studies relating to how too much negative pressure stresses plants into thinking they're dying so they transpire far too much and require much more water to stay alive. Which in turns sets you up for nutrient burn because as they drink more water, they absorb excessive nutrients as well.
Just an honest question.

thats what im talking about.. its dialing it in. your plants need a little wiggle with ventilation, 60-70 deg (possibly 65-70) deg night temps on 18/6 and 12/12.. will need 70-80 day temps
the air exchange should be 3x per minute of volume and the leaves should "wiggle" here and there. once you set your room up right, you wont be fooled by other factors of the grow

to add. i bought a gorilla grow tent recently. i have a low cfm fan ventilating it for now, but later i might add a small high cfm exhaust kit. i bought a set of bars to stop the sides from sucking in but you may be able to use some wood or plastic materials to spit the middle members of your frame to stop your tent from sucking it it actually works quite awesome!

Yeah, I thought of adding some sort of framing to the tent to stop the sides from coming in but after I read the stuff about too much negative pressure being bad for the plants I decided to use how much the sides were coming in as a gauge of how much pressure I was creating. Seems to be working out, I run a dual 315 cmh and the 4" keeps my temps and rh set pretty good. No more than 10-15 degree difference and only a 10% swing in rh lights on/off. 3x a minute air exchange is waaay higher than what all the science says but if it's working for you, fugit, whatever gets you flowers I guess
