I cook at a country club, and we run a lot of buffets in addition to regular dinner service...Since the kitchen sets up the buffets, and the servers basically just take drink orders during these events, my chef just got the general manager of the club to finally give us a portion of the service charge. I think it's gonna end up being a nice amount, because we charge 18% service charge, so every $10000 buffet we run provides like $1800 to split among the workers.

We've been fighting to get a portion of the service charge for these events for 4 years now...I think monday is gonna be the first day! :)

We do this too, we have a brunch once a week which brings in a lot of people lol, we dont get anything but hourly wages, Im not the head chef, Im sure he makes a lot more than we do. I love that guy

Thats good though, they should give you some, damn waiters make a good 200-300 dollars in one night apparently on brunch days.. When I bussed tables one night I got 100 dollars one night. And no joke one time I found a 100 dollar bill on the ground :p

Sweet! I was told it might come out to be like an extra 100 bucks a day on top of regular wages, and since I've been working at the CC since I graduated from cookinjg camp 4 years ago, I make decent hourly wages.

Ive realized that if you dont let them push you around, or give up, its quite easy to move up. Theres money in it if you try. Right now I work a LOT of hours, Im hoping to move up so I can maybe work a little less and get paid the same lol because I can literally support myself almost. Problem is I REALLY dont wanna move away from my roomates lol its like fuckin workaholics

100 dollars more a day is crazy bananas though man! I thought about going to the country club, but I never did haha

I design tattoos. I'd look into apprenticeships but it'd upset my parents. My ma is fine with me doing custom art though. Maybe start a thread in the art section and show us some of your work; I have some art in there. Maybe we could work together sometime.
