Kool, I have a question.. I need more power, in the grow room there is a fuse box. There are 6 open 110 lines. I want to put two to one plug. Meaning I think you can take out the piece of metal that joins the upper and lower plug. Hook up 110 to the top and 110 to the bottom and then use a space bar if needed. Is this ok to do??
Thanks

You could do this, why would you? If I understand you correctly, you have an electrical panel in the room and there are 6 unused spaces in it. You want to use two of them, to power two seperate items, and put the receptacles in one box? I doubt that anyone would recommend this as being a less expensive way to power, like a couple of lights. You would need to use a deeper box to allow heat to disipate. It could also be dangerous for someone else that didn't realize there are two seperate circuits in an ordinary looking duplex receptacle and start to do work on it without turning off both switches.
I had installed several circuits in my space and have found that sometimes when you plug a timer into a duplex you can't plug anything else in there anyway. If you have both circuits in one duplex you may regret it when you try to plug things into it. VV

there is two tabs. one on each side, one for neutral the other for hot,What you want to do though, so you don't crowd the box is pull the old receptacle box out of the wall(power off ofcourse)got to your hardware store and get a 2gang cut-in receptacle box, pull your two cicuits into your new box(i'm guessing you are running 15amp circuits)this box will hold two dulplex receptacles, this way you will have more space to work with in the box...what I'm saying is you want to run 2 dedicated circuits they should each have there own 15 amp duplex receptacale, this will give you 4 spots to plug in also. This is the safer way.The only time i split the receptacles is on half hots, and garbage disposal dishwasher circuits, and they never are getting power from seperate citcuits.....:joint: If you need more step by step instructions on installing a double duplex receptacle p.m. me....:joint:

Thanks for the offer, I'm sure I'll be sending you questions in the near future. I know very little about electricity, wiring, etc....
