When they played for the love of the game, and not $$$$$. It's been corrupted for years now.

Once $$$ becomes the overriding goal (pun!), things like steroids and abuses come right after.

The institution of football was much better in the days when the game was more important than the take home pay.

Same with baseball.

Money corrupts all things eventually, if left unchecked.

look it up in baseball, 100 million dollars deals, pichers get like 4 year contracts at like 15 million a year
