I'm not sure what to make of this

Started my first flowering a few weeks back, and the buds are growing nicely with crystals and whatnots everywhere around them, but I've noticed the buds on my strongest and healthiest baby STINK. And not in the good way that cannabis does, but more like a trashy type smell. I'm a bit put off and worried by this, but I can't help but think maybe I'm still a bit early in the process for any sort of determination seeing as how none of the buds on my other babies have begun to produce any sort of noticable cannabis scent yet, either. And since I've NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE IN MY LIFE, I've no real-life hands-on idea what's normal and what's not, and what could be just plain old cock 'n balls crazy. The books are only so helpful.

I've been pretty organic with my gardening methods, so I don't think it could be anything like that. I could be wrong

Any ideas? Questions? Cause seriously, help.

Looking good what strain...? light / soil....?

These are the top three forming colas on the plant. It looks pretty feckin' healthy to me, but smells like almost garbage. I snipped a leaf and smoked it and it was good, the trichomes are clear and growing. I just don't get it. Maybe I need to wait for them to mature a little more, but I don't know. I guess I expected the good solid weed smell.

Ha. They're seeds pulled from schwag. I seedlinged in rockwool cubes then transplanted into pots of peat. In the very quick lesson on soil nutrients I was forced to cull most of them. When I started flowering I transplanted into worm castings and perlite, plus I watered with a light fish emulsion mix and then a bat guano mix a little later. I've been using Blackstar 240s for my lighting.

You're right...plain old cock and balls crazy. Took the words right out of my mouth. Just kidding. I wouldn't worry at all. Different strains, different smells. I'd be surprised if they smell the same at harvest and then the smell will change even further after that. That sounds almost like an overload of organic nutrients to me though, maybe that has something to do with it. They look great in my experienced opinion. If this is your first time, you're doing well.

it migth have to do with the smell of fish emulsion and guano based ferts tbh, you could be smelling the soil.

I had to cull over ten plants due to over-ferting early on, and it was a lesson I learned hard and well. The two different watering solutions were each made with a gallon of pure water and blended for over fifteen minutes on high speed to break down as much as possible. The first was made with a few drops of fish emulsion; the other bat guano, bonemeal, greensand, honey, molasses, and sugar. Again, all in small amounts; I've no intention of losing my last babies. These were spread over three plants, then another gallon of pure water spread over the three. I'm thinking I might make a good tea in a week or so.

Woot! I'm an experimenter by nature, and I've tried a few untraditional things. It's good to know I'm on the right track though.

When I rotate around again I might take some pics of my other plants. It seems a bit addicting.

just check if you dont have trash lieing around or have anything moldy and rotting in your grow room. get a carbon filter if you dont like how your plant smells

organics stink a lot of the time and could be of the "skunk" variety lol.
