I dunno, I haven't seen anything TOO terrible yet. I am a member on another forum where people get banned for racist/antisemetic hatespeech all the time. I remember a member got banned for posting a picture of his semen all over a picture of a moderator that he printed out and jerked off on..... I'm just saying the douchebaggery around here has not gotten anywhere close to the depths that the internet is capable of.


that being said, I think there are definitely still some people around here who take the process of growing weed a bit too seriously or something. I dunno what the draw is to flame someone for asking a question. even if its been posted a hundred times, it takes that much more effort to make a snarky sarcastic post making fun of this dumb noob than it does to simply not post at all.

Here's a good example- in the Cannabis Cafe, "I don't know if anyone has noticed". Started by Finshaggy. It's like ragging on Fin. has become a sport. Of course everyone will justify why they ragg on him, I just thought I'd throw out another example.

Here's a WILD and crazy idea. How about staying out of the resident trolls threads? Finshaggy, Buck, Ben, Hazey there are a bunch of them. The only reason to enter these peoples threads is to tell others not to take their advice that is all (except for Ben like I say he know's his shit he's just an ass). They are trolls, every one of them. Ben at least has knowledge, which I thank him for, but he's just as bad as the rest of them, everything is snake oil even if the ingredients in said "snake oils" are sound and good for plant developments, no point looking at the ingredients it's just snake oil.

Using the resident trolls threads as an example is invalid. You should be smart enough to stay out of their threads, or read them responsibly and not get all worked up. Just shake your head and be like " Oh Hazey you so Crazy", maybe throw up a link to their "plants" so others can see and not waste their time.

You want a perfect example of why people get pissed? Go read Hazey's thread about a tool-less grow area he asks all these people for help, they give him ideas out of butt hole, he goes and draws up a set up that would take at least 5 tools and 100+ screw holes. This is what I mean by wasting peoples time. People genuinely try and help this guy who was NEVER looking for an answer to his question, he was looking for attention. He got it. He's torn down his previous grows *Paraphrasing* " because people on RIU found out where I live and told my landlord". Now picture the same person constantly doing this, as well as spreading "advice" that is taken out of context or just plain wrong. Shit's annoying, people have every right to get pissed off.

These people also need to be called out, so when the google searches do bring noobs here they aren't getting advice from the likes of Finshaggy or something, thinking there is actual knowledge contained in the thread, if there are 5 people in the thread calling him fucking crazy the noob will question the advice. I know for a fact I would have taken a lot of Hazey's bullshit as fact when I first started as he is extremely good at making his bullshit look legit. If it wasn't for other users I probably would have fucked a lot of shit up listening to that idiot. I thank all those people who called hazey out on his bullshit in those threads as it saved me a lot of time and woke me up, made me realize even if someone can type out something nice looking it can still be 100% speculative bullshit, as that guy has never grown a plant to completion.

When someone asks something chances are they already checked google and the search function and didn't get the info they wanted or not enough of it anyway so either answer or don't but don't be a dick and tell them t google it. That isn't helpful to anyone and it's a waste of everyone's time.

If a newbie wants the help of others they should be grateful when they receive it
often newbies are very grateful and polite and are willing to show initiative they just need maybe pointing in the right direction

the problem arises when a newbie expects to be spoon fed whichever remedy they are seeking
if they do not receive the attention they believe their problem deserves some of them can become spiteful and bitter

However all is not lost, if the newbie (with the power of hindsight) recognizes their bad behavior and apologizes accordingly all can be forgotten

• I have received a tremendous amount of information and help from members on the RUI forum. I honestly, really appreciate it, and whenever I do have a positive insight, I share it.
  
  What I don't understand is why some members feel the need to be so fucking rude. Critical input, advice, pointing out what a person is doing wrong, all good. But implying that someone is an idiot for asking a question diminishes the reputation and effectiveness of the entire RUI forum.
  
  I know that there are bad seeds who post crazy shit, just ignore it. Chances are, they want you're reaction and are phishing.
  
  When someone seems a total newbie and has basic questions, I think we should help them out, not, as some people on this site do, call them stupid and insult them.
  
  I've learned that the smart people on RUI, with useful knowledge and input, are polite and have a sense of humor. The assholes, even if they are genius growers, rarely contribute anything but spew.

Zo, I couldn't agree more. I thought the same thing when I first joined a forum. You have growers (or potential growers) of all experience levels, and everyone of them giving advice as gospel. I devastated my first 2 crops trying to decipher or sort out all of the conflicting information flooding my way. There is no way for a newbie to tell who to listen to. The "rep" system is certainly no indicator of skill. A new grower who is asking a question should not be attacked (even tho they ignore the search function and ask a Q that has ben asked 10 times in the past week!!), however those who spread bad info, even after being shown how they are wrong, deserve what ever befalls them. Growing is a science, that follows certain scientific principles. When an educated​ experienced grower gets called out by some dumbass who can't even construct a sentence or spell properly, it gets under your skin. And when the same dumbasses are constantly out there doing more damage by spreading misinformation, after a while you just get to where you want to choke the shit out of them!!!
Now that doesn't excuse bad manners!! Name calling and bad form are never justified, but sometimes even the most mild mannered can feel infinitely satisfied by nailing an idiot. LOL! There are MANY superb growers here, Most are really great at helping folks, some are real dicks. Assholes affect only themselves, Stupidity affects others when someone gets half a grasp of an idea, and starts giving out mis-information as solid fact to someone who has no idea whats up and comes here looking for help.

Just simply giving some examples that I have ran across, like I was asked. When your new to this forum it takes a little while to find out who the resident trolls are and who are not. So saying just stay away from them doesn't really work. I myself could care less. Ill read through threads and make my own decisions without letting anyone irritate me. Come on, getting upset because someone rags on you through the computer. It doesn't make sense to me but I can understand how some people might get their feeling hurt. I'm not here to judge, I'm here for info and maybe a funny story here and there. You can flame me all you want, doesn't bother me in the least. I find it quite amusing most of the time, but I try not to instigate or prolong it. I'd rather nip it in the bud and move on. Staying positive tends to keep me happier. I do understand your point though^^^.
