Immobile nutrient, or drainage issue?

First time poster here,
Have a few seedlings that I'm helping my parent's grow in their backyard. Mar 18 she sprouted cotolyden and first leaflets, making this seedling 2 weeks old. She lives in a 1gal pot with E.B Stone's 420 potting mix and is watered using the house's filtered/soft water. Two days ago (the 29th) I noticed her new growth yellowing and each day the growth has continued to develop a light green/yellow hue.

My gut says it's an immobile deficiency either from a lack of ph-ing the water, or an increase of ph due to improper drainage (nothing was added to this soil). The seedlings are too young, in my opinion, to be given supplements just yet. But I turn to the knowledge of rollitup for advice!

Thoughts? Any steps we can take moving forward to amend the soil we have for future up-potting, or work we can do now?

Thank you much,

-SageGrouse

Well im not a soil guy, not even sure if it is a true soil, looks like soilless from the ingredients.

But its defo not a nitrogen def.
It looks like sulphur or iron issue and could be a few things you have already listed.
PH, too compact or wet.
Should be all the iron and sulphur in your soil

You could ph the water to mid 6 range.
Add perlite to help aeration and drainage.

Rather you wait for a second opinion because soil aint my bag.
Best of luck!

If you are giving her soft water, then stop right now, the sodium levels present in soft water are not safe for the plants. Either give her PHed RO or tap water. Maybe do a light flush ( >20%) to remove some salts from the soil, and feed at half strength, see how she responds.

I was mistaken in my first post, it is not 'soft' water. Instead it is filtered water ph-ing at about 6.4 or 6.5 out the faucet.

I'm starting to believe it may be a drainage issue as the other seedlings here (in 3" jiffy pots) that are being fed the same water are not showing the same signs.

The other 7 for reference (don't mind number 1, she's a special case that my parents wanted to keep around). And the 3rd picture was the a comparison shot on the first day we started to notice the change.

Hope this update will offer some more clarity for input from the HIGHer ups!

That’s good faucet water. It’s not a nutrient issue I’d say it looks like there getting a bit cold. Are they left outside?

They are being left out overnights. They're growing up in Southern California. It's been as high in the 80s and lows around 50 or so. Should they still be brought in at night?

EB STONE Recipe 420 needs a bit of perlite added . I use it in a 70/30 mix with Fox Farms ocean forest. There is NO NEED for special water. I use Tap ( California ) and it reads out at 6.8 mostly with very little tweaking. Using 420 mix alone , you would amend it slightly with a dry fertilizer like sure start or Gaia green , dr.earth 4-4-4 . It is prebuffered out of bag and simple tap water alone will work.

My Cali water ppm at 300 ( is what it is ) and add a little calmag ( for my led grows ).

SHE IS HUNGRY.

I'm noticing the lack of perlite, and will look into getting either a bag of FFOF or one of the fertilizers you suggest! Thank you for your response, I look forward to amending her soil and posting updates as her growth continues.
