Ok here is what we have. Recently in a thread a certain new member who will wil call oh Hectorius had went on and on about how safe and ewxceptable it is for your home to be at a constant 10000 ppm level of co2 and that the best optimal level for plants to use co2 is 2000 ppm. I disagreed and used the facts that 1500 ppm is the suggested and industry standard for optimal co2 and that levels above 5000 ppm for prolong enclosed breathing are harmful to making you sick and even death if exposed long enough... soooo with that said we decided to take a vote with the looser leaving the site and not coming back based on the results of this poll.....If he is right vote for him if you think my estimates are right vote for me. If you think differently somehwta vote for who you think is closer to what you find or believe. i say plants start to get damged and die at 2000ppm or higher he thinks its good to sit in those levels to smoke a joint./ This will be a 3 day poll with person who has less votes leaving and not coming back so vote your thoughts.....

For people? it's definately bad. Abnormally high levels of CO2 in the atmosphere can cause hypercapnia; which can lead to respiratory acidosis... The acid/base balance of your body has a very small window before fluctuations can cause adverse symptoms.

10000ppm is like a filled movie theater with poor ventilation and effects might be one of drowsy.
20000ppm is starting to get bad and 50000ppm is the start of toxicity.

10000ppm is not going to kill you but is definately not what you want to be breathing all day long.

I have to vote for fletch

10000 probably increases respiration rate in mammals and what the guy above said about blood ph being affected is even more critical to health. besides that too much co2 causes negative issues for the plants themselves.

in fact there was one time where i dissolved a few pounds of dry ice in my grow i sleep in the same room i woke up a few hours later a little out of breath. i was also at 3000 feet but that is nothing altitude wise. hopefully i raised my hematocrit for that month a bit for racing lol. i have no idea how high the ppm's got point is too much c02 in the blood is bad.

I belive this would be more of a long term effect thing more than anything. The effects of c02 arent detremental in short doses, But as a reptile keeper we use c02 to kill rats. In high enough or long term exposure to it may be the issue. I would have to vote Fletch. Though aslong as you wernt in the room all day everyday it should be fine for a mild joint session. You wont know you have been hit by carbon dioxide poisioning untill its to late. The symptoms are drowsyness (DONT GO TO SLEEP), stomach pains, headaches and slightly heavier breathing if you have any or all of those symptoms get out ASAP.

Cheers kwaka

you will absolutely notice the rapid respiration and heart rate i did. of course if your sleeping you might just stay asleep if the concentration is high enough.

This is an important vote so me and the nut hugger can see what the correct co2 opinion is and then the looser will leave the site forever and be on thier marry way but I have a feeling he won't leave since he is a douche

Shouldn't we be a little more concerned for Hector's health than just kicking him off the site? Douche or not, we don't want anyone dying because they "thought" they were right...

Maybe find some links for the guy to read (like the Minnesota one a page back) that show scientific evidence what he is doing is unhealthy...physiological effects of excess co2 are not good, and he should politely be made aware of the supporting data.

If he still thinks he right, at least we know we tried to help...

I did i gave him several links and posted the direct info fo him to see. He says he works for the cananda gas company and regulatory company and those are the excepted levels for cananda homes and he keeps his grow room at 2000 ppm as he says thats optimal even though i showed him dta that shows 2000 ppm will kill your plants and he just went off about how Im and idiot and he knows from his job so wha cha gonna do since he said I was just scaring people when a guy asked if having is house at 5000 ppm was bad or ok and I said it was bad so he said Im nuts so thought we 'd do some polling on it

Hell, I just know without a doubt that FF knows what he is talking about, better than some Canadian named Hector! LOL
Three years ago, I was a newbie here, and FF's threads and posts taught me alot then.
FF knows what he is talkin about and he don't bullshit advice! He is the BEST there is when it comes to "rigging" or fixing soemthing up cheaper, or DIY.
