Importance of an EC meter

You sound a bit paranoid and please don't take that as an attack - just an observation. If someone telling you that they didn't mean to offend you aggravates you more, then it might be your problem and not theirs. Are you this person?

And it was through the course of my three years doing silent RIU research and experimentation that I figured out the ass-end of a hydro system from its head (you'll notice my join date).

So from here on out, I think I'll just let the other experienced members (of whom there are plenty here) straighten out the noobs. Though I've been told by more than one person in my life that I would have made a good teacher... I just don't have the patience.

Gotta love when two old members have it out both your nugs are big now stfu hahahahahaha This and my bong made my morning. Oh also i dont test my shit except the ph and thats with a cheapo drop fish tank tester and only during the first grow with a new nutrient line up but i use mostly fox farm trio for soil and super natural for hydro and both are mostly ph stable meaning they either balance the ph out or only change the ph slightly. I have about 3 years in dro growing and a few years growing indoor soil never had a problem the trick to it is always have a tester plant of each strain "gets fed first" or keep your gardens genes the same so the nutrient needs of each plant and strain is around the same. Just my 2 cents its not fully needed but if you can afford the fancy testers do it gives you a better record of your grows and lets you jump back and forth for strains to a higher standard but if you dont have your head up your ass they are not fully needed just added bells and whistles to the grows trick bag.

Ehh.. 1st real grow ever was a 18gal DWC 4xplants. fox farm line of nutes, distilled water.. I did not own a thermostat let alone a Ph / Ec meter. I ended up harvesting 12oz of decent bud from the 1x 600w I had @ the time. I was unaware I could have let them grow a few weeks longer. I now have the meters, I never use EC. I ph everything. Going strong.. though my stems tend to bend hardcore from the weight of the nugs.

I would reccomend meters for someone who is trying to perfect/dial in the grow quicker.. maybe searching for better results. Nothing is gaurenteed. But I myself take mj seriously & if there is a possibility I can improve it for a small fee. what the hell.

i wasn't going to post on here but then i read this. u rap on about nothing with nothing constructive to say just abusing people. i think you're just an argumentative person, if someone dosen't want to use or see the
need for a piece of kit it don't give you or anyone else the right to verbally abuse or insult another. grow up man and before you start on the amount of posts i have or haven't posted....... it dosen't matter how many or few, i come on here for constructive advise as i'm thinking of switching from dirt (which i've been doing for a while and jusy fancy trying a different way) to hydro. now play nice or don't play

Having kept up with Jins work, have to say, schwag my ass. Cheap shot. He's a bit of a snob, but thats because he's obsessive about his work. He's looking for perfection. Not a bad endeavor. Its true what you say, you don't need any of that to grow, hell, to be honest, you don't need shit but to throw enough seeds at the ground and let mothernature do the rest, but thats how schwag is grown. And if thats the grow style your championing, perhaps that comment would better suit your work?

Even if you go from town A to town B... who cares, do a little homework to find out what's up with the tap water, and then just rock it. I just take the chart and start any strain at half strenght (GH nutrients) if they need more, easy, if they need less, easy.

Easy. I have two tri-meters and 2 EC meters collecting dust, if you want one, I'll send it to you free. But you don't need one and I'd have saved the money if I figured that out earlier.

Believe it or not, I'm a pretty good natured guy, and I agree that growing a cannabis plant, like any other, is an uncomplicated process. But here in LA pot culture, the quality has been driven so high, that what's good shit in someone's basement in the UK or Texas, isn't even worth looking at here. This is the environment where I strive to compete, so when others who are trying to grow for quality are being told that my advice to monitor their dissolved solids is hogwash, I take notice.

And I know how many promises I've made to you (and in general) that I would play nice from now on... But I'm like a pit bull sometimes. Once I latch on, I'll just bite harder and harder until the limb tears off. Some people are entertained by me, while others despise me... What can I say? It's the story of my life.

Now after all this, is it possible to inject something constructive? I don't know, but hydro growing and soil growing are two completely different things. I think someone from a hydro shop commented earlier that he advises beginners interested in hydro to grow in soil? That's like a beginner going to the scuba shop and being advised to try rock climbing. One really has little to do with the other.
