Important coco questions

Alright I just started a new crop.
8 autoflowers in 1.5 gallon pots.
Coco/perlite from Mother Earth.
I mixed 2.5ml cal mag per 1gl water ph 5.8
I soaked the pots with calmag water
I then let then dry and planted the seeds directly.
(After moistening the coco obviously)
Now I'm curious, for the first couple days can I just water with this calmag water phd to 5.8? Then after 2d or so start feeding?

Its really easy to overwater a small seedling in a big pot. I like to use a ml syringe and measure out how much I water. When they're tiny, they just need like 20 ml around the root zone per day, then just increase little by little. When they're bigger and the area close to the edges gets dry, you can water the whole pot again, then let it dry out again, just watering around the root zone. You need to keep the roots moist but provide a wet dry cycle with the rest of the pot to promote root growth. They won't need a very high ppm at first 200-300 is fine. If you let them get too dry, the ppms will skyrocket and you might burn your plants, it's a balance. Good luck!

What was the EC/ppm the solution you soaked the pots in? Yes you can use that solution to keep the seed area moist. No need to keep the whole pot soaked. I hate the idea of starting seeds in large pots. It can be tough to accurately water/feed.

My seeds stay moist with .4 EC feed. I use starter pots though. :bigjoint:
Yes that is true. And of course. I only soaked the pots once. Now I am waiting for sprout. And while waiting just misting the tops of the pots 2x a day. Once sprout. I'll just keep center moist for about a week or less. Then its game time lol

Chances are if you soaked the pots before planting it will take a few days to dry out. Seedlings don't need much. Just keep the area around them watered like the folks above suggested. You won't really need to feed them for a while. The first couple weeks are covered by what is stored in the seed itself. Once leaves form and you start going you will need to feed but very lightly.

Sounds like you're already keeping it too wet. They don't need to be sprayed twice daily.

What EC did you soak the pots?

Thanks man. Since they're all autoflowers I know they need fed much less than photos apparently. So im trying to go easy on them lol since not much room for error

I just noticed the sweet skull and bird. That's an interesting room you have there. Also respect to the oven rack elevators.
