IMPORTANT: read before you order a GeekBeast Pro

Well I spent hours trying to get my new GeekBeast pro to connect to my phone. Finally I had to admit I was stumped. I got in touch with Eva on Alibaba and found out that nobody told be that you had to order the GeekBeast pro with the bluetooth and/or wifi ability. And there is basically no way to modify one that turns it into one that does. At least Eva said it was difficult and you could easily end up destroying your light if done incorrectly. So my friends learn from my initial confusion on this issue. I wish that I had been informed of this before I ordered it, I did not realize that this functionality was an option. All and all, though I would prefer to have it, I am liking my beast. I had been using a little spyder farmer and moving it by hand about twenty times a day to cover my little grow. My plants are happy and despite the mix-up, so am I. Here is a photo of a four week old aero grow (my first) after two days under the beast. I have kept all the tops bent under the net so that's why you can't see any. One thing I was very happy about is that the wiring is so long.

If it's any consolation, the app control is nothing special. Overall it's not very intuitive and the documentation sucks - but that's expected.

I got my units paired to the bridge and the app set up. The app allows you to turn the lights off and on and dim them, as well as set them on a timer. Does your unit have switches and a physical dimmer? For me, the app is the only way I can turn IR/UV off and on and dim the plants which is a little strange.

It's pretty cool, but I don't see myself using it very often. The idea of my setup is to be automated and fuss-free. I can't see too many situations where I would need to turn my lights off remotely short of some kind of emergency.

There are physical switches, one to turn on the UV and one for the IR, and a dimmer. So I can easily put it on a timer but if I want to run UV or IR for an hour I have to do that manually with the switch. At first I didn't notice the switches because they are up against the back of my tent, and I didn't notice them when I assembled it -- or didn't remember them. So I ran it for a couple days with the UV on all the time. I was getting this liquid on the tops of some of the broad leaves that I had never seen before in any grow, and now I am wondering if it was some kind of UV defense. It was clear like water but smelled really good, almost like a bud, but not quite. I was thinking that with the remote, I could sort of ramp up the brightness over a half hour or so, but really don't know if that matters. Somewhere I got the impression that you couldn't program the UV to be on for an hour then turn off and the rest of the light stay on. If that is the case, they should change that so IR and UV can be controlled independently. I would also like to see a way to dim different light bars individually so you could just have the center on until the grow expands to be under the outer bars. Guess you have to build your own if you want it to do exactly what you want it to.

Are either of you in the US? I'm considering this light rather than 4 of the Fluence Spydr 2is for a new flower room and I was curious about the tariff situation. $750 to my door is definitely better than $1500 even if it's not quite as good as the Fluence ... but if there's another 25% that customs wants to collect, that changes things

Does this light/driver significantly raise temps in your tent?

W/o UVA on a timer then its a hassle to do manually. I forget too. Ir should always be on imo but anything under 400nm needs intervals.
