In over my head..

So these autopots...

Did you put 2" of clay pebbles on the bottom of each pot?

Are the aqua valves seated correctly in the tray?

You do tend to need to top water for a bit till roots extend down.

Here's another read. The info on the first 5 pages will get you in the right direction. Coco + gh

Thank you. No I didn't use the pebbles. I was told the airdome replaces the need for them, although I'm now questioning all the advice I got at the grow shop.. As far as I know I have the valves installed correctly. Last week one of the plants got knocked over somehow, the entire resevoir drained into the tent and I got to sponge up 20 gallons of water, that was fun..

I think my main problem was/is trying to do too many corrections at once. I know for a fact I way over did it with the nutes. After cutting back and not seeing immediate results, I then assumed they were getting too much water. So I then added the timer which I'm now thinking was a mistake also. Patience isn't my strong suite but I'm working on it..

Your res shouldn't drain out if your valves are working, unless the tray got tipped over too.

The valve should only let water into the tray if it's dry, then when the water comes in the valve shuts it off until the pot has wicked it up.

The pebbles are there to stop the coco wicking directly and continually having soaking coco.

Personally I don't like autopots but when used right they do work.

Yep I'm certainly having a helluva time with them. If I remember right the tray did get knocked over as well. It was one of the ones I had propped up on a peice of 2x4 to add height. But I will go over everything again and check all the valves. Thanks a bunch!

Coco is super easy. You just need the tools to use it right and have an understanding of plants nutrient needs. I wouldn't use autopots with coco. Flood tray, irrigation setup on a repeat cycle timer and a drain setup. If you wanna try something with less setup and more manual labour use soil and handwater but after your back aches come in you'll switch over quick.

Yes I was hoping to do this as automated as I can, I keep a pretty busy schedule. I'd sure hate to just give up on the autopots but if it's gonna be a constant battle then I'll switch gears. Guess I need to get a much better understanding of coco and nutrients in general also. Starting to get a little pissed at the grow shop guy for setting me up with this lol.. never had a problem with just plain old dirt

Grow shops sell. They don't really help.

Well, couple days and not seeing any improvement. If anything they look a little worse.. Gonna give it a few more days and if they don't show any signs of a turn around, switching to plan B and tossing them in the dumpster, along with the coco, autopots, resevoir, all of it..

I do have 6 gorgeous little girls that I was doing a mini sog with in a tiny tent that I can put in the bigger tent. What sucks tho is they're 2 weeks into flower and been trimmed up to do a sog, never topped or trained.. I've got some moms going, so can get a fresh batch of clones ready to put back in the little tent.

Totoly sucks, but right now I feel like I'm just wasting time and electricity..
