Incarceration After Legalization Of Marijuana?

I agree with Raw. I've had my grow inspected twice now. Some cities really will work with you. City Hall is a great idea though. If your local laws say it's legal, I think I prefer they know so that if they do want to inspect it, they don't do it with 20 armed officers @ 2 in the morning.

Stay in Seattle City limits and you should be fine. My favorite dispensary has gone down two times now.....once in Shoreline and once in Bothell. Shoreline put down a moratorium and asked him to shut down, in Bothell he was "raided" but no charges were filled. He has moved to Seattle now where the LEO's are friendly.

The dispensary's in Seattle are welcomed and medical patients do not get busted....but don't step foot out of Seattle as no other County/City is as friendly......yet.

Also, I would wait and see what our legislature does with SB 5073. They are writing up guidelines regarding dispensaries that if passed will take effect July 1st. There is rumor of a "lottery" type selection of licensing, so that would be something you would want to try for.. if indeed that is what they decide.

Either way, I think it would be worth holding off to see what happens with SB 5073. It would be a bummer to make the investment to get all set up and then not be drawn from the lottery.

A bit of gossip I picked up last week.

This may not be a good time to open a dispensary.

I've been hearing that the IRS is reviewing the Federal tax returns of every dispensary and owners of same and denying ALL deductions under some law that makes them illegal.

One example are several clubs in the Bay Area with potential penalties approaching eight figures.

Another practice is demanding vendors leave their wares on consignment, and then slow paying for them.

I think there's going to be a lot of turmoil in the near future that will result in the closing of a lot of store front dispensaries.

Hope our best central valley dispensary in Clovis and Friant stay open. Pretty sure they are the most legit around.

I'd imagine that if it does become legal on a Federal level and you were incarcerated by the federal government they would grant amnesty to all of those that we're currently serving a sentance for possession or cultivation of marijuana as long as it's not attached to some other federal crime. This being said if you DO open a dispensary...make sure you aren't stepping on any federal, state or local toes. Make sure you pay taxes to uncle sam...even if they still say its not okay to grow. This way if you do get arrested its not because of tax evasion.
