But what are they? Northeast. Prefers growing in giant clusters, particularly under birch (I know this isn't a birch in this picture) Would love to know what they are. I have two northeast mushroom identification books and neither address these. Any thoughts?image.jpg

Sort of resembles the armillaria, honey mushroom but don't ever take anyone's word from a single picture and no real description. Post some pics and descriptions on shroomery... There's some really knowledgeable people over there

take a print. you can tell alot by the print color and if you have a usb microscope you can look at the spores. don't breathe them in!!!

Thanks for the replies. As much as I love mushrooms, I don't ever feel confident in my abilities to identify. So for now, my quest is really about using them as dyes (mixed with simple mordants like salt and ammonia) for wool yarn. My yard is a haven for mushrooms.image.jpg A large patch of amanitas in the neighborhood image.jpg

Any clue as to what kind of mushrooms are these. It's been extremely warm here in the MIT. And while I was walking my property I found these .1118161604c.jpg1118161603.jpg
There was a ton of them growing on the two track
