Indica for pain

Hey everyone, first time posting, wasn't sure where to put this so I figured I'd go with the newbie forum. Long story short, multiple back surgeries, FBSS, DDD & severe sciatica. Through much research I've decided to try the cannabis route for some relief since I've had some bad side effects from narc pain killers in the past. It's looking like my best option according to reviews would be an indica strain like grape ape & was wondering if anyone has any experience with it in a similar situation as I am in?

My biggest question though is how to get some seeds in the US without getting busted by Customs? I have the tools, materials, skills & botanical knowledge to build a grow cabinet but don't want to go to the trouble of putting one together if I can't get the seeds to grow anything. If anyone can help me out by pointing me in the right direction for a source I would appreciate it

I cannot comment on Grape Ape specifically but I agree that an indica strain would serve you better than a sativa. I would strongly suggest you look into a CBD (Cannabidiol) rich strain as well. Having access to both would give more options for treatment and allow you to determine what works best (different for everyone). There are some seed companies selling CBD strains that are not tested for CBD. I would recommend CBD Crew Seeds, I bought the Sweet and Sour Widow but they have other strains as well. Mine were purchased through seedsman and they have guaranteed delivery. I have also ordered through Original-ssc, and they also have guaranteed delivery. OriginalSSC is also running a special now where you can get 2 additional free seeds through CBD Crew.

A sativa AND indica simultaeneously are kinda mandatory IMO.

Indica for pain or sleep, sativa for daytime/doing stuff.

welcome to RIU! it depends on when you're wanting to smoke: daytime or just at night? indicas are famous for couch-lock/putting you to sleep and sativas give you an up high/let's do something kind of energy ... a combo of the two works best (in my opinion) for chronic pain. i have had awesome pain relief with a combo of sativa/indica and in my research these are good for pain: Sour Kush, Emerald Jack, Kali Mist, Skywalker OG Kush, and many others similar to these. What @Cascadian said is correct, I've done *some* research and it seems the THC level along with the CBD level being medium to high is what the combo for pain best responds to. But the strains i've listed above were researched just on "pain management" alone, not taking into consideration the THC/CBD levels. If other folks are reporting it is working well with their pain, that's good enough for me! Good luck!!

BTW, google buying s*eds and you're on your way. I'm sure some folks on here will point you in the right direction. Do some research on RIU for suggested seed sites. Don't deliver to your grow address! Get a friend to let you get a delivery delivered to them...if possible. http://en.seedfinder.eu/cannabis-strain-wizard/and|effect|24|0|100|nix will help also. i just put in pain relief for you but you can add traits that you want to for your specific needs. :peace:

I'm glad you brought up the subject of CBD Cascadian. I have watched Dr McSherry's videos and read some of his research concerning why THC content alone is not an indicator of efficacy but rather the combination of the 2 as evidenced by marinol having a more potent effect on nausea rather than pain. I will check the sites you recommend, it is much appreciated as most of the places listed in other threads are no longer in operation.

Excellent point that I didn't take into consideration Dribbles. I was working solely off of a strain search for back pain & only pursued the indica route. I will look more into sativa as well. Thanks for the advice.

Wow, now this is what I was looking for UCG, I'm glad to hear from someone with first hand experience with the pain relief aspect. Thank you for the additional recommendations, I will certainly look up the strains you have listed!

The issue with getting a friend to accept the package, is that friend then knows you plan to grow.

I would rather take my chances with customs and the feds than a friend knowing I have a grow p going on. Personally, I have it selt direct to myself, because nobody knows that way, unless customs find them and if that happens it's all fucked regardless whose mailing address is used.

I also take responsibility for my own actions, and don't feel the need to hide behind a mate, but mainly, having a friend in the know, leaves one more person knowing, who can tell anyone they know, and before you know it, you're fucked and have know idea who ripped you off.

I don't event trust my own woman when I grow, certainly never take her to the site, and never leave my mobile or gps on when I visit.

I don't know what country you're even in, but I can recommend Sea of Seeds. Make sure you don't stinge on the postage, and get Guaranteed Stealth packaging.

But always assume that anyone who knows about your growing, WILL TELL everyone they know, because - although that doesn't always happen - you'd be shocked how often people will mention it to someone they know simply as conversation-filler. Never tell anyone, unless you're growing at home, in which case, only tell the people you live with, and have a sit-down chat about the consequences of them talking to others about it.

Impress upon them that thr cops will search the entire house, including their room, drawers, cupboards and anywhere else they feel like looking. That normally brings it home how inconvenient it could be. But people ripping your plants is a much more common scenario, and in thst case there're no saying how or when they could do that.

Just like Fight Club, but much more serious: YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT IT.

To that second question, there's really no way at all to *guarantee* you'll receive seeds you order, but they can take up to a month to be delivered (or as little as a week, a day ort wo even if you're in the UK) so getting them ordered sooner rather than later means you simply have to wait.

All of the popular seedbanks are pretty reliable: it's not some online scam where someone takes your money and sends nothing. The seedbanks are in the UK because seeds are perfectly legal to posess and sell there, but customs in your country can and do stop packages, and that's where the risk lies.

Generally, the stealth packaging is really quite impressive, and although we son't talk about stealth methods on here because we don't want the pigs to know find out anything from us, I can certainly attest to them being well hidden. So well hidden, it often takes a while for you yourself to find the seeds.

They work out pretty expensive, (figure on spending about $150 on an order if you buy a few packs and buy stealth (mantatory) and guaranteed post (recommended), but if you consider what each seed can give you back, it's really quite cheap, in relative terms.

but basically, the sooner you order, the sooner you'll know whether you'll be one of the 90% who get their seeds, or the unlucky 10% who get ripped by customs.

It's true they usually get through fine, but "Souveneirs" mean zip if you're in a state that prohibits canna: they're just as illegal as buds, though I wouldn't suspect much of a penalty for having seeds alone, people don't order seeds just to look at them.

Where there are seeds, there are plants worth a felony conviction, and revenue for the police through fines and the like.

You suppose the authorities don't know that seeds are bought to be grown?

I'm in the same boat as you, 2 back surgeries, severe nerve damage, sciatica, muscle atrophy, etc. I agree a Indica Dom. hybrid does the most for me. I grew some Girl Scout Cookie clones that, so far, have helped me the most. They a a little upbove average CBD's. I'm waiting to grow some high CBD plants. Really looking into Pennywise and Cataonic. The higher CBD strains seem to help me relax better. Hope you can find something that helps, it might take a while trying different strains. I'm always on the lookout for strains that help me.

I'm glad you bring up the topic of CBD Casacadian. Watching and reading Dr McSherry he emphasizes the importance of both THC & CBD's in efficacy of pain relief compared to just THC. I took a look at those sites & will certainly look more into your recommendations, thank you!

UCG & BWG thanks for your replies with first hand knowledge of use for pain relief, they definitely help give some insight into what may be the better strains, really appreciate your advice.

Dribbles, I'm in the US, the worst part for me is 60 miles away in VT MMJ is legal, however on this side of the puddle that separates the 2 states it isn't :( I could have access to one of the leading MMJ experts worldwide but the funky part is coming back across state lines with it, although I do have a friend that goes over for MMJ for severe RA. I'm going to have to look more into that aspect because here cult. is a pretty severe offense.
