Indoor Perpetual Closets

Shit bro sorry to hear about the Pink K/F yeild! I would be pissed with that long of a flowering time if mine yeild anything under 2 oz's per plant. We will see though, I am hopeing to early sex them soon. Looking forward to the smoke report on the purp KF bro. I showed a buddy your pics and both of us were quite impressed!
2 z's per plant is our target, but I think this crop was at a slight disadvantage where it started out in a 12sqft closet, then moved to a 32 sqft room, but was staying in the mid to high 80's with too high humidity, not to mention moves. That's all been fixed now, and this whole next crop will be much more stable and right from the beginning, so we hope to pass the 2z's per plant by then at the latest. The lav/bbs is looking promising though, and the current herc is beefy as hell and huge, so it might get there as well :)

Purple Killing Fields is ready to do a report on.

DSCF0586.jpgDSCF0588.jpgDSCF0590.jpgDSCF0597.jpgDSCF0601.jpgDSCF0582.jpgDSCF0584.jpgDSCF0599.jpg

Appearance: Incredibly dark purple. Covered in liberal amounts of trichs. Medium-loose conglomeration of medium-dense cattails. Green stems and tips of bud leaves, most green removed in trimming. The contrast between the crystals and the purple makes the crystals really stand out!

Odor: Strong petrol (solvent) odor and a strong floral undertone. That's pretty much it; not a terribly complex odor, but quite strong.

Taste: This plant was ripe faster than we expected and didn't get a proper flush period, we believe that the taste suffered as a result, however it by no means was terrible :) Heavy spice with a hint of petrol, and a slight earthy aftertaste. Smooth with a medium throat burn going down. Light smoke, Easy to hold hits in.

Potency: This was quite potent compared to everything we have grown before. We each felt sufficiently stoned after 3 hits, and with our tolerances we usually need to smoke twice as much to get there. Though we've both encountered stronger, it's been rare. This was right on par with the potency we've found in typical a-dam/vancouver/dispensary.

High: Energetic high with a heady stone. Great daytime smoke, has a tendency to keep you up for at least 45-60 min, so not such a great bedtime smoke. Quite visual (slightly grainy with vibrant colors), but lacking the pressure change in your eyes/temples that some visual strains can cause.

All around this was not the most tasty (though with a proper flush it might be better), but was incredibly potent. The bag appeal of pure dark purple nugs was top notch. We showed it around to a number of heavy smokers and got nothing but wow's and ohh's and ahh's before even taking a hit.

And trich covered trim is plentiful!

Also got some pics of the pink KF's root's from last harvest

And on to some changes in the flower area!

The tent is all setup! Pics of the outside suck because this thing dominates the room :)

The inside pics give a little more of an idea of how big it is.

We also have ordered a few hygrometers to use in jars for curing, a real microscope (as opposed to this $14 radio shack one), and a digital eyepiece camera so we can start including trich pics in the journal :)
The color clarity on the pos radio shack scope sucks balls, from here on out we should have a much more clear view of what is happening on a microscopic level :)

That's it for now!

Have you guys thought about bumping up to 7 gallon pots? I had some root balls like that on my fist grow and decided to move up from 5 gal to 7 gallon and my plants seem to like it alot. Just throwing that out there fellas.

I would suggest you try some DIY Air-Pruning pails ala Hobbes. Might be cheaper to mod your 5ga pails than replace them with 7ga pails.

Cut a bunch of 2" holes in the pails and wrap the inside with landscape fabric or 2 layers of screen. I am trying some pet-tough plastic window screen in a cheap 2.5ga tub that looks like it will work well. My first 7qt pots used burlap mesh landscape fabric and small holes. I am using some aluminum screen mesh on my 3.5ga pails currently in veg/flower.

We've been talking about moving up to 7 gallons, but at this point not really sure it's needed. They come into flower in 2 gallons, and I really don't have space in veg to get larger than that. The rootball still had a bit of space down lower. Dunno, maybe we should try one or two in the 7 gallon and compare, but with all the changes we've made over the last few months I kinda want to let a crop go through without major change and see if we can break the 2z's per plant (if the herc hasn't already).

I would suggest you try some DIY Air-Pruning pails ala Hobbes. Might be cheaper to mod your 5ga pails than replace them with 7ga pails.
If we do upgrade size I've already decided to go with some smart pots (and even if we don't). Probably cost a bit more, but I'm trying to get away from DIY as much as I can lately, hehe. Those look good though!

I am using some of those as well and love them. The plants potted up from the #2 smart pots to 3.5ga diy pails nicely. No transplant shock at all. I am flowering one now in a #2 smart pot, and have bought some #1 and #3's to try. I am thinking I will use the #1's for babies and pot up to #3's (or possibly #5's when I build a bigger flower box). I want to get some of the actual air pots to try as well. The prefab'd wavy holes should make nice tie off points for LST. :hump:

Those pots look sick bro! I would rep ya if I could. I may try one of those later. Like gobbly I have been doing some changes and trying some different shit in my grow rooms and I am trying to keep it simple right now. I am trying Bud candy doing a side by side, and I am also going to be doing a side by side with some Kushy Kush ferts that my hydro store gave me to try and let them know how it works. But later I will want to try to mod my planters like you did. I would love to do a side by side with cuttings from the same mother and see if that extra air helps the plants.

Looking sweet Gobby. The KF smoke report was kick ass. Three hits for guy with high tolerance is a potent plant!

It's still curing. We'll throw down a smoke report as soon as we think the flavor isn't going to improve much with time :)

Lav/BBS went into jars today with a weight of 46.5grams. So far that's our largest producing plant.

Something I have neglected to mention though, we do a very thorough trim job. Much more thorough than a commercial trim, basically leaving as much pure bracts (calyx) as we can; if it didn't have hairs sticking out of it and we can see it, it gets trimmed. We separate the non-frost trim (mostly fan leaves) from the frosty (trich covered) leaves which many commercial growers either leave or just clip the tips off. From most harvests we end up with 1/2 to 1 oz of the sugary trim. I'm really not sure how aggressive a trim job most other home growers are doing, but if it's any comparison to the commercial trim jobs, then you might want to add 14 grams or so to our harvest totals.

That's funny I was just looking for a USB scope last night! I have an eyeclopse "kids toy" that I take pic's with now and it works good but I was looking for one that I can plug into a laptop and get a big screen pic of what I am looking at. The eyeclopse is kinda hit and miss if you get a good pic of the trich's. Don't get me wrong it works fine I just wanted a better scope. What kind did you get bro? I was looking at some in the $100 price range, but it is hard to tell what is a good one and what is a ripoff.

We got a celestron in the $100 price range. We will let you know how well it works. We looked into the eyeclopse online and it seemed hit or miss to us too. Alot of the pics we saw seemed to have focusing problems.

Thanks guys I would be interested to see how user friendly it is and also the pic quality. My eyeclopse only cost me around $30 shpped off ebay so I couldn't beat that but like you said focusing can be hard at times. But it does work good enough.
