Nope, that's half the problem! However, the holes appeared so quickly and so many on multiple strains with no environmental or feed changes that I can't really see any other reason than a pest. I sprayed with pyrethrin and the problem stopped getting worse, put it that way!
That's why I'm asking predominantly about preventative measures.
I've heard similar things about O3, but I have neither a CO2 generator nor an ozone generator unfortunately.

The absolute best pesticide is Co2, run it up to about 10,000 ppm for about an hour and everything but your plants in the room will die
