inherited plant...is it ok?

i've never grown before, i know nothing about growing, so here it goes...

my friend gave this plant to me about 5 days ago. it's in a organic soil mixture he concocted. he explained that it started the flowering stage, then reverted back to veg state. he said i should harvest sometime in september.

it now sits in my backyard. i've got a water tester, and when it came to me it read moist 3in deep. today i watered again using a fish emulsion fertilizer, following the recommended ratio.

my concern is that it looks quite droopy and most of the leaves have brown tips. the leaves also have white spots all over.

is my plant healthy? what should i be doing in the weeks ahead?plant-3.jpgplant-2.jpgplant-1.jpg

next time give it half dose of nutrients not the full dose. it has very small amount of nute burn and it also looks a little overwatered good score though looks nice

what kind of watering schedule should i adhere to? doing some reading, looks like some people are watering their outdoor potted plants daily. i live in socal, it's hot (90's) and dry here for the next few months. and i've been moving it to stay in direct sun for about 9hrs a day. like i said, i have a water meter tester thing and before watering today it read moist at 3-5in deep and wet all the way inserted (10in). should it dry about more between watering?
