One thing to say.

You get what you pay for.

Im not disrespecting that brand of fans as I know nothing about them.

I've used both. Yes, it's louder ... but you can use insullated ducting and excessive gorilla tape to completely quiet the bitch no problem.

I have 3 or 4 Valuline in use now, and they've been going for over a year. One of them crapped out on me a couple weeks ago. It started to make a LOT of noise. It was approx 2x louder than any other fan running. In it's defense: it was running at full speed for over 1 year STRAIGHT. Never shut off. All of the other fans I use are modulated by temp or shut off completely during dark hours. I probably shouldn't have put the cheapest fan on that duty, but live and learn. I've replaced that fan with a Vortex and it's running fine (it's only been a month or two though).

Plan on using insullated ducting and you'll be happy with either fan. The Vortex DOES move more air... but the Valueline moves enough to get the job done.

Did you attempt to see if they stood behind their warranty?

You have used them? Are Vortex the prefered brand by most?
Yes, I have a Valueline that use in limited applications. That's why I chose it. No need to spend more when it doesn't get used all that often. I also have a number of Vortex fans that have been running 24/7 for years. Make of that what you will.

Vortex sounds like the way to go. I know they are adjustable as far as air flow but how adjustable? Are there settings for specified CFM flows or is it just turn the knob and its either faster or slower?

The Vortex fans I have can be adjusted with an external speed controller. In essence, a router speed control you can buy at Harbor Freight. There are some drawbacks to this, namely noise and possibly a shortened lifespan. I know that noise seems counter-intuitive, as the speed is brought down. The actual noise from the air rushing through the housing is the least of it. In terms of lifespan, I don't now. Like I said, I've had a number of these running 24/7 for years, one on a speed controller and the others full-tilt.

Your other option is a Variac. It's much more expensive, but it's the best way to control the speed of a centrifugal fan. All this being said, I try to run the fans full-blast as much as possible. It's just easier.

valulines are fine. To deal with noise, just buy a size bigger than you need and then slow it down with a speed controller.

If you've got the money id suggest can fan MaxFanx
