If the potential new medical marijuana program demands electrical inspections, if you have not altered your house wiring, I have issues with them demanding an electrical inspection.
Opinions?

Sorry, to be clear, they have not demanded one from me.
I am thinking forward to what new rules may be implemented for us.

ya a little vague in the main original post it reads like you are being subjected to an inspection

might wanna edit and make it more clear youre speaking about new laws and rules that may be in affect. just imo

You likely had a complete home inspection when you first purchased house insurance, no? It's gonna be the same thing for MMJ, and I'm assuming Rec MJ as well.

why would they inspect my natural medicine? It's a herb after all not a drug by HC standards
and why would they want to inspect my tomatoes?
If they want to insect a set up..that's fine...there wouldn't have to be anything growing
...not even the tomatoes..

It would depend on how many watts your using. If your only using 2k watts there is no need to alter wiring but if you wanted to bring more power into your room, I could see a justification for an inspection...like if you did it yourself, but if you hired a electrician to do the job I dont see why an inspection would be required or the electrician could sign off the inspection

Would agree if we all had small t5 setups. Never have heard or seen anybody using 1000w to grow a few tomatoes. Hell even if you want a hottub installed requires inspections. Personally i think what ever hc comes up with the municipalities will create the byways to fuck us over.

Off the top of my head a typical 1000w hid requires approx 9 amps, most circuits in a home are 15amps. If you follow the 80% rule 1 hid would be max I would run on 1 circuit. Remember most 15 amp circuits run to multiple rooms,, also you need to include fans,pumps, dehumidification etc. Most houses are not equipmed to handle large loads like a 1000w hid. If your growing legit you should have no problems following some basic safety precautions, and have the work done by a ticketed tradesman. It's in your best interest to be safe and do it right. Personally I would never grow in a dwelling where people are living, an outbuilding or garage would better suit a grow. Just my $.02'

if you used the split receptacles you could run two lights off the one plug. 8-)
i'm not the one guessing though... lol
There's a stove plug outlet@ 120 v as well usually.
Not to mention using a stove or dryer circuit wired TEMP to a sub panel.
Most circuits are nit used through the day either. bedrooms..hallways...etc.
Checking a circuit to see whats on it takes seconds
The list is endless without changing or running new branch circuits.
All legal and not needing to be inspected by the way.
Only rough installs and certain apparatus get inspected and if you had lights certified for Canada...All's good INS wise..it says right in your INS policy and talks about lighting certificates for any electrical device in your home.
Some lights from 'other countries' will void your INS in a fire though...just sayin.

lots to it but growing tomats aint going to get you inspected...thats for sure!..
like making your own beer or wine ....the're not coming over to check.
They dont care about the bombs you have burning in your house every day.
Water heater...Furnace....gas appliances...

Lets face it, nobody is growing anything indoors other than pot. The whole inspection thing is to prove to the insurance industry that its safe to grow indoors.

I disagree
The more that know it's done at all is worse for you and your presumed reason to need insurance.
Your house won't burn down but the chance of being robbed goes up so I'd say it evens out at best.

I think people deserve the benefit of the doubt til they prove otherwise.
Not many people are going to risk burning down their homes and putting their families on the street.
