I am not being a duche but are those cups clear? That is a bozo no no. FYI
The cups were clear at the beginning of the grow yes. I planned on fixing that right away but wrapping the clear cups in black duct tape proved to be a major pain in the ass. Those veggies are all in the ground now though and the plants are in black and white poly grow bags. I have blue solo cups that I use now when I want a small container.

Lady #3 is coming along just fine.
Lady 3 (6-9).jpg

I also went in and trained the 12/12 from seed confirmed female and the 12/12 from seed of unknown sex. Both plants are nice and open and I think there is good light penetration throughout the plant. Plant 1, the female, is on the left.
Plant 1 (6-9).jpgPlant 1 (6-9)bird's eye.jpgPlant 2 (6-9).jpgPlant 2 (6-9)bird's eye.jpg

I also have 2 teas brewing. One is a tea for flowering that I will give to the 12/12 plants and one is a high fungus tea for Lady #3.

The Flower Tea
1 cup worm castings
2tsp bat guano 10-3-1
1tsp kelp meal
1/4tsp rock phosphate
1tsp of grandma's molasses

High Fungus Tea
It is 1/2 cup worm castings
1/2 cup mushroom compost
2Tbs rolled oats
2tsp kelp meal
1/4tsp rock phosphate

I think I might add some fish emulsion when I water lady #3 because she is already looking pretty yellow. What do you guys think?

As far as dosing of those various organic ferts.... I forget, what's your base soil like? I've hardly added any ferts to my plants at all, and I tend to think people err more often on the over-fertilizing than under-fertilizing side. But I am considering doing some kind of tea for my perpetual SOG, so I'll be interested in seeing your results from those teas.

I don't remember my exact soil recipe. I mixed it in 2-5 gallon buckets. The base soil is simply miracle grow organic choice, which is mainly peat with some chicken litter. Then I added blood meal, bone meal, ewc, bat guano, green sand, rock phosphate, kelp meal, lime and mushroom compost. I add molasses every few waterings, and I have done three teas, one in veg when I transplanted, one at the beginning of flower and now I'm doing this fungus dom. one. I don't remember the amounts of each, I know I used alot of ewc and compost, a moderate amount of most the other stuff, and just a pinch of the rock phosphate. Then I mixed it well and set it out in the sun until I needed to use it. I will probably use this method again, except I will sub straight peat mixed 60-40 with chunky vermiculite for the mg, and I will add another kind of compost to improve variety of nutrient sources. I'm excited because in my next grow I'm using good genetics, Nirvana Papaya and Nirvana feminized Pure Power Plant, and I'm using 3 gallon smart pots.

Alright. I smoked a j in the middle of my update and I guess I got logged off for taking too long? That's never happened before but I pressed submit post and it made me log in the page didn't load and now all my shit's gone. I'm gonna repeat it but it's never the same as when it's your original, enthusiastic thought.

On the 12th I watered with the compost teas. Out of the 3 12/12 plants in 2 gallon bags, only plant 1 is a female. plant two might be a hermaphrodite, so he is definately trash. plant 4 is a male, and looks really good too. I am going to keep him so I can practice gathering pollen without seeding my whole garden. I've been watching his pollen sacs grow and when they look like they're ready to burst I will pull him and set him somewhere safe until the flowers open. Then I will gather some pollen and try to pollinate a single branch on plant 1. Here's some pictures from the 12th.

about 3 minutes later....

Yesterday I went in my room and moved some things around. I got my fan up so it is blowing right over the tops of my plants now. I was able to lower my 250w another 8 inches, it is now only about 6" above the canopy and temps have actually gone down! Here are some pics from today, the 14th, day 35 of 12/12. First is both females, then Lady 3, Her main cola, the males (herm is on left), and the rearranged closet space.

sup guys I've got kind of a big update but no pictures because my camera went on vacation for a while.

First of all I was finding the buds on Lady 3 to be very tiny. I noticed that the grow bag it was in (2gal) was really only about halfway full, meaning it was only in 1 gallon of soil! So at 4.5 weeks flower I decided to transplant, and now she is in a 3 gallon root pouch that is full to the brim. It's been a few days since the transplant and I haven't noticed much of anything, not a boom in growth or a droopy plant from shock. I then decided to do the same thing with Plant 1, the other 100% female plant. She too seems to have handled the transplant fine. The bags make it easy because I was able to just cut them out of the bag and set the root ball in it's new home, zero shock!

Plant 2 has been a known hermie, and now Plant 4 which I thought was male has female flowers forming all over the top nodes. I have decided I will try to watch the plants closely and pull the naners as they form. If at any point I feel I can't keep up, or it just becomes too much of a pain in the ass, I'll just toss the plants, but for now I am going to try to yeild what I can. It seems some branches are all male, and others are all female. If this is the case then I can probably just prune the male branches and make it much easier. These plants are staying in their 2 gallon grow bags, which are much more full than Lady 3's bag was.

I've also got the house to myself for a week as the rest of the family has gone out of town. I'm trying to use this time to myself to get the closet looking more like a legitimate grow area, so that if I ever get busted at least it will look like I knew what I was doing haha. The problem is my schedule and my plant's schedule don't fit very well, and these bitches aren't very flexible when it comes to timing! My solution - I gave them my bedroom. That's right, I finally get that $1500 queen mattress to myself, without having to worry about being interrupted in the middle of the night to change a diaper, or to stop hogging the good pillow, and I can't even sleep in my own room because i've got some plants in there. It was the only room in the house though that I could easily hang up my lights and get a fan on them and guarantee zero light leaks.(which means no going in my room from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m.) So they're hanging out in my room and I'm sleeping on the couch. The top half of the closet is now painted black, the floor is covered in heavy duty plastic, the lower half of all the walls are lined with mylar that is clean and even! I'm just trying to get a hold of a 6" hole saw bit now so I can add in my exhaust fan and seal up the closet with a sheet of mylar and stick my tarp zipper in the middle. I also installed a board on the wall that the ballast can mount to, and that a power strip can mount to so all electricity is off the floor as well.

It really sucks not having a camera right now. I went in the closet today and my other female had grown up about 3 inches in a day. She has so many tops, i'd say about 12 separate ones, and most of these were now 5-7" above Lady 3, who is completely done growing vertically. Tying all these branches down with bread ties seemed impossible, and it would have spread the plant out so wide she would take the 250 all to herself. I needed to make sharp turn on all the branches, so I decided to supercrop. This plant is probably only 2 weeks in to a 12 week flowering period so I think it will be okay. Her branch structure is very nice, I will try to repeat this in future grows, but I can't have this plant keep growing vertically on me. It is really outgrowing the hermaphrodites that are still in the 2 gallon plastic grow bags. I bent each top down at a height about even with the main cola on Lady 3. She will probably take a week to recover, and hopefully at that point the major stretch is slowing down. I bet she still almost doubles the height of Lady 3 in the end.

Well guys it's been a while since my last post in this journal. My camera got full of memory and I was too lazy to organize the pictures and clean it out so I just kinda quit taking pictures and making post. The heat has been disgusting in my area, and my grow room has had days as high as 98 with flashes over 100 (when I had to close the door to the room because of company). I've done everything practical to help out the situation, I even took down the hps for a little while and was strictly cfl. The hps is back up now though and I have some pics. Plants are doing okay but signs of heat stress are obvious.

Lady 3 will probably get harvested next time the soil drys out.
Lady 3 (7-18).jpgLady 3 (7-18)close.jpg

100% female 12/12 from seed. I topped this plant a couple of times early in it's growth, and then I cut off the slower growing shoots and I super cropped the rest to keep it from getting too tall. It's about 30" from the stem base to the top of the tallest shoot.
12-12 (7-18)female.jpg12-12 (7-18)female close.jpg

the two hermies that were 12/12 from seed. I kept plucking the nanners with tweezers and I haven't seen one for a couple of weeks now. I also pruned off entire branches that had high pollen sac to calyx ratios. These won't yeild much but I've kept them around for two months so I don't see the point in getting rid of them now. I will let them finish.

Clone in a cup. This little girl does not want to flower. She has like four calyxes and that's it. I don't know why she is still around. Can't bring myself to throw her out.
12-12 (7-18)clone.jpg

I flipped the lights to 12-12 on May 11th, making this day 70 of 12-12. The 12-12 from seed plants are only a few days older than that. Here are the plants baking under the lights - the temp at the time of the picture was 93, a cool day for the girls.

Looking good as can be expected with that kind of heat. It looks like there might be some kind of lockout occurring with that lower-leaf bleaching. Do you have a soil pH meter?

I do have a cheap soil ph test kit but I can't find it. I tested the ph of my runoff with my ph meter last week and it was 6.5-6.8 on all plants when I watered with straight water. I believe the problem is the heat. I can't get it under 93 anymore. If I don't by a small ac unit for next summer, I will not be growing through June, July, and August next year.

I HEAR THIS!! This summer's heat has been murderous for me. Average temps in my box have been over 93 throughout my current grow. The excessive heat really limited the stretching and my yield will definitely suffer.

Your LST looks good, kept your canopy nice and even. Are you thinking about going sCROG next grow. I made my DIY screens out of some pre-cut metal rod from home depot and clothes hangars. Total cost about $6. Like you I have a fan blowing directly over my canopy and this has allowed me to keep my 250w hps about 5-7 inches above the tops. I have been on hiatus for RIU due to computer problems but hope to update my grow journal tonight.

Love your choice of genetics for your next grow. The PPP is an absolute beast and I have heard nothing but good things about Nirvanas genetics. The Nirvana blackjack I grew out on my first grow was outstanding, both growth wise and in the finished product. It also responded really well to training and my sCROG produced some really fat nugs.

Hope my computer problems are behind me and I am looking forward to the finish here and the startup of your next grow. Props man!

Thanks man I hope you are done with the computer problems too. I was really planning on doing a scrog next grow, I even bought about 50' of copper wire for a diy screen but I think I am going to mainline my next grow. Nugbuckets plants have really grown on me and 4 or 5 plants in 3 gallon fabric pots main lined should net me more than enough high quality smoke. I hear nothing but good things about the PPP and I can't wait to crack these seeds. As soon as my closet gets back to 85 or less I will move on to that grow, even if it means tossing the plants I have now. Here's to cooler weather bro!

I checked out that Nugbuckets mainlining thread. WoW! I may try something like that myself, will have to look into it more and see if I can do it and still limit overall height. Definitely an impressive idea and method.

Here's to cool weather and a 16-headed PPP in the future! Peace

Here's one more update for anyone that finds this thread. I harvested Lady#3 and she is almost done drying and will be going in to the jars tomorrow I think. I decided to taste a bud just now and it still taste a little fresh but it has me really high off of one bowl. I'll update one last time after the cure with a final weight and smoke report just to be complete. I got rid of all the other plants. They just weren't going to yield anything and it didn't seem worth waiting another 6 weeks or longer. Next grow starting soon.

You planning on mainlining? How is the weather, you plan on starting soon? In my neck of the woods we had a week of 75 degree weather, and me with no plants in the box. Pissed me off! So I started getting the itch and planning for some new babies to take home and wouldnt you know it, yesterday was 90 with 90% humidity! I so want to get this grow started since I really want to veg the shit out of it this time. I am trying to practice patience, but this patience shit sucks! Pineapple Express or Super Lemon Haze next round hopefully. Hopefully I say cuz the guy that has the strains is a bit of a talker and douchebag and I am not going to solely rely on him.

Looking forward to your next grow

It's still hot here. We have been getting lots of rain lately and so it's been generally cooler, but today it feels like it's 95+ I picked up my recycling bins and they burnt my hands haha. But I was venting my closet with a duct booster fan before, and now I have a 450cfm rated centrifugal fan with a carbon filter. I also increased the size of my intake and have turned down the ac so the room the closet is in stays cooler than it used too. When I get it all set up I will leave the light on for a day just to make sure the temps are comfortable (anything below 85 is good for me) and then I'm jumping into the next grow. Yeah I'm mainlining, well, kind of. I'm doing a mainline-sea of green hybrid grow. 9 plants in 1 gallon containers under my 250 Hempy style with dyna-gro. I'm doing some 1:1 perlite vermiculite mix and I'm doing some straight coco to try it out. I'm going to start them under 18/6 lighting in 1qt. containers. Then I will top for two when they're ready. When it recovers, I will transplant to the 1 gallon containers and top for four, and remove the lower nodes. When they recover from that topping I will switch to 12/12 and let them finish.
