Interesting ph question.

Hey guys, I think I may be having a ph issue but I read on this one site that if you use pure water, like the kind you would buy at a grocery store, the ph wouldn't be an issue because the ph is probably perfect. What do you guys think of this because I need a nice clean ph'd water. I don't want to spend money on a ph test kit to only find out I need ph up or down.

Right now for watering I just use the water that comes out of my fridge. It's fine drinking water that comes out , but it's not as pure as a gallon of good water from a store I think. What do you guys think? Sorry if I'm posting about stupid things but I just really need help on this one. Thanks

Your line of thinking is totally ass backwards here. The entire reason for having a test kit is to let you know how much ph up or down you NEED to use if your water source sucks.
Or do this
Rain water is free.
Drop 10-20 bucks on a Rubbermaid trash barrel. Don't skimp out just get Rubbermaid. Those things can hold 50+ gallons of water and they won't split. Slide that badboy up under a rain gutter and boom infinite good water. Or fucking steal one on garbage day.
You have to think long term when it comes to what you invest in when it comes to grow gear.
That PH pen will last you years and years of growing. And because you got a PH pen now every single plant you ever grow throughout it's life cycle will have perfect PH

'drinking water' or 'spring water' are basically the same thing...tapwater. You might be thinking of distilled or reverse osmosis water though...and that's not very good for your plants because it's not ph stable and doesn't contain the micro nutrients that's included in tap water. If you use distilled or RO water you will need to put back in the the nutrients that get filtered out like calcium magnesium and iron and stuff. If you have decent tapwater that doesn't leave stains in the sink and bathtub (ie, hard or soft water) then it's generally fine to use.

I use ph drops. It's more than accurate enough. Using rain or distilled water with fertilizers will most likely lead to low ph lockout over time. Adding lime or even the minerals present in most tap water will help buffer against this, but you should have an idea of your tap's hardness/ph if you rely on that. Best results come from tbsp of lime per gallon of soil and rain or distilled h2o ph'd to around 6.5.

Yeah but it's illegal to collect in some states. Don't understand why but yeah.....
Because corporations like Nestles are trying to make it a commodity like any other and have lobbied various states to make laws that make collecting water illegal. So you HAVE to buy it.

This happened in Boliva 15 years ago. The country had a revolution over it. They won. But many people died as a result. The fact that this is happening in several states now and you people dont know about it is fuckin scary to the rest of the world. This is shit you people need to educate yourselves about and take a stand. NOW.

How can people know this and not be fucking furious enough to throw some molotov cocktails at the corporate offices that are doing this?

Talk about asleep at the wheel...man....

Think about it. If corps control water then they control who lives and who dies...and make a profit off of it.

Yeah but at this point the ball has already been dropped. All we can really do is enjoy the ride while the fat kid is still able to keep his lunch down. Hell I'll probably be dead by the time that nestle takes over the world so yeah.

Well... the ball was already dropped too in Bolivia. Put they picked it up and ran with it. They ran Nestles or whoever right out of the country. And while most of those people would be dead too before Nestle could "assimilate" the world they fought on principle and for their children.

Sorry...but... unless you were being sarcastic your attitude to just lay down and take it like a good sport is the reason we are all getting ass fucked by corps everytime we turn around... its the same reason wall street got away with the financial crisis. If people burned some cars you can bet some bankers would be in jail right now...

Not any worse then the government building and opening all these damn fema camps, don't know how true it is, however it does make 1 think just what is the government up to.... also been hearing they have been collecting the homeless off the streets and placing them into these fema camps aswell. I've even heard talks of martial law and whomever lives in marked red or blue states depending on which color location that person lives in will determine the outcome. I've read red states equals death, and people living in blue states means they'll end up being slaves for the government. Talking about scary...

I've pondered about that before with freshwater fish tanks. I use coquina rock (calcium) in the tanks with an additional filter that holds wood chips (tannic acid) and maintain healthy 7 - 7.3ph. I only add in R.O. water when I 10% water change. For mineralization I use a low dose of Redmond rock. I recently got Sea-90 I've been trying out.

It may be possible to use a remineralization cartridge with distilled/r.o. water if someone is set on using it. Or maybe bubble/stir (agitate) the water with some dolomite and a pinch of rock dust similar to what @Headadead was saying.

Ppm pen $10. China, Ph pen $13 China, 10 years old still goin. Low ppm h2o is easy to get, $.25 per gallon from machine. I only use slightly acidic pure water every 4th watering and during flush. You need the pens when you put anything into that water.
