I have an hlg 185 1400a. The internal potentiometer is not working. Is there a way to add an external one to get it to work again?

How does it not work ? you opened the rubber stopper and used a screwdriver to put inside and turn the screw?
The "B" models come with a completely seperate cord coming off it containing blue and white dimming leads. A models like yours are controlled completely via the screw to dim from 50-100%.

Probably stripped the screw. Not the first time somebody has done that on here

It has the Screw you turn. It doesn't work at all anymore and it sucks because its like its stuck on 50%. I Turn the screw and it does turn nothing happens. If I could just get it to 100% id be happy with it...

can you test how many amps its putting out? What about the voltage of your series? What kind of cobs? More info is helpful

4 cxb3590s 36 V don't have a multimeter at the moment.

Well that should fire up no problem,I'm sure you know that. Has it ran on 100% before? Is your driver still under warranty? Can you see the adjustable screw in the driver?

Yep it has worked. When iam talking 100% have the light as bright as it will go. When I turn the screw either way to make it brighter or dimmer it stays just as is. Doesn't get brighter or dimmer. It is under warranty and a new one is on the way(sort of its on almost 2 month back order). If I could somehow salvage the driver It would be nice 2 build another and not have to pay for another driver. Yes I can see the adjustable screw in the driver.

Well if you can see the screw and confirm that your moving it is probably shot, does it stop spinning in either direction? I know mine stops when I reach the limit of the of the driver (50 and 100%)sorry I can't be more useful but it's sounds like its disconnected internally, I believe I've seen this issue on the forum as well

I wont be getting the internal pots anymore.
I looked at my HLG 185 and noticed that there are shrews so it should be possible to take it apart.
I wonder if you can take it apart and solder wires on the place where the internal pot is placed. ( remove the internal pot) or you could change the original pot with another.
I would do that but of cause I am a technician.
