i was wondering about this today and decided to search for a light meter, there are free ones over there that help photographers to get the light info that they want but there is also one that should measure light intensity , this is the one :

didn't try it yet but i will soon.
actually i was looking for something that will help me to find out if there is light in my closet in darkens hours, i am sure there is something like this.

I think there are some limitations to the phone's light sensor that might prohibit an accurate measurement of light intensity or darkness.

I was thinking more like an app where you could plug in your transplant date, how often you want to change the rez, prediction for benchmarks like when you should be getting to flowering stage, and be able to log the daily variables (temp, ph, height, etc.) so that after the grow you can see patterns and get a more scientific analysis why somethings went right and some went wrong

write down everything u want to look back on, add some pics, make a personal grow journal. by the time u finish you'll have a collection of information you can look back on and analyze.

there are no apps like this that I know of, but you can easily record everything yourself.

Yeah, that app is coming out after many snags in the development process. It will be on the app market before the end of February.
