is 8000 lumens good for veg?

i was thinking about getting a via-volt t5 2ft 4 lamp fixture, it says it's 8000 lumens, 24 watt per bulb and 2000 lumens per bulb...would this be good for a couple of mother plants, some cuttings getting ready for flower, and some fresh clones???

it's not that it won't work it's just that it would work a lot better with more light. if cost is an issue you could add additional light with t5 strip lights or cfls. i personally wouldn't go with that light by itself.

Figure at least 3000 lumens for each square foot of space, and go from there. 8000 lumens is good enough to cover two 12" x 12" areas, maybe a little more.

(assuming the lights are placed within 3" of the tops of the plants. closer is better)

for vegging you can use that or about anything you can get... dont use a nightlight or crazy shit like that but you know what i mean. when it comes to flower get a hps light,
for veggin with smaller lamps simply keep them short and close

seriously 8000 lumens is plenty to grow awsome healthy plants. i've vegged with two 26 watters and had fantastic results with lush green plants. and thats not even over 2000 lumens. you'll be fine with 8000

i think i'll start out with the 8000 and add more if i feel like i need to...what kinda hps should i use,is a single 400w hps good for about 6 flowering plants in a dwc system?
