Is a Nitrogen Deficiency in Flowering Normal?

I have a plant in flowering right now that has a nitrogen deficiency and I've lost about 4-6 fan leaves to the lack of nitrogen. I'm wondering, I've heard this is normal but when fan leaves are dieing doesn't that slow the production of buds because there aren't more leaves to make energy? Shouldn't I use nutes with more nitrogen to stop this? I know more nitrogen leads to more veg growth but it seems like if the plants are struggling to maintain their older leaves then it's detrimental to the plant.

BTW.... Does anyone know why plants don't absorb nitrogen well during flowering?

They use less nitogen during flowering. I would give them a shot of nitrogen before you lose to many leaves.

yeah because they aren't growing as many leaves anymore but what's strange about this is it just started when i went into flowering and I have them on humboldt nutrients' Oneness which is 5-9-4. It just seems like something else is going on under that soil to make a bad situation.

If you just started flowering you should flush it with a gallon of water. Then ammend the soil properly with nitrogen and phosphorus. Try to have the phosphorus at least 3 times as high as the nitrogen...e.g 10-30-10 Then when your bud sites have really set in raise the nitrogen.

u should be giveing ur plants the same amount of nitro in begining flower as you were givving them in late veg. till the plant is done stretching(2-5 weeks)

i second stoneshield, i have been working on converting my one room grow into a 2 room rolling grow. ive been kinda slacking on nutes as i was worried i was burning my girls, ive been bringing one per week into flower, and ive been watching the differences in the leave's colors as it does the post veg stretch, the oldest one was really light green earlier, with the one at one week a bit darker and the one i put in a night ago still dark green. its a good indication how much nitrogen they use in the first few weeks, after that i would slack up, halt altogether about 2-3 week from cut and let it suck up all the nitrogen in the fan leaves
