Is asking for seeds considered in poor taste?

Just curious
I read a lot of people's journals and see all the info
I'm amazed at how many small time breeders there are.
My question is is it considered to be in poor taste or just a taboo to ask someone if they'd mind sending some of their genetics.

For instance
I live in KY we have a local strain called puking red where I live
Is stupendously skunky outdoor

But let's say YOU live in Texas
Where I've heard romulan was the herb to smoke
At least in my bro's area

I mailed him some beans a week ago to eventually have some puking romulan or some other catchy new flavor to show off too my bro's.

Back in the day I got some shishkaberry?(I think 10 years ago lol)

Ive found that they get offered sometimes thru PMs or stable threads. Ive had free seeds offered and also reasonably priced seeds as well.
Ive never come out and asked for seeds I don't think.

If you do get some remember the person went out of their way and may have paid for postage as well. Nice to recognise them when you do grow them.

Maybe make a post in the breeding area and seek a swap?

Should Not be against the Rules ,just shows that its about making money .Nothing wrong with getting strains we have done our selfs tested by other growers.I have a 10 pack i need testing Thc Snow x Jack Herer x Exodus Cheese

Could it be that it's against the rules to cover the ass of the site? After all, encouraging the distribution of seeds could be seen as being a tad naughty under US law, depending on whether it's interstate, the legality in your state, and so on, so the ban's there to prevent any unwarranted and unwanted legal action.

Not saying that's the reason, just that it could be a reason because we know how strangely some law enforcement idiots will overreact to anything concerning marijuana.

Yea, the site would get roped into conspiracy charges under US federal law , which is worse.
Conspiracy to commit a misdemeanor can be a felony, and open all sorts of doors for task forces.

Look, the way it is now, the Feds could hold things like trade (especially across state lines), against the site owners.
It's not because he is just an arsehole.

And don't forget the potential for arseholes to go on the rip, promising to send things but not doing so or sending any old crap bag seed and claiming that it's "Gorilla Superglue #666 Automegabud" or whatever fancy name someone comes out with.

Let's face it, the pitfalls are clear, and blocking the likes of seed swaps just lessens the amount of inevitable hassle it would cause as people would soon be at each others' throats more than they are now.

If they allowed members to trade or sell seeds it would take about 30 minutes before it all went to shit. Fighting,arguing, stealing,and the potential of your personal info being posted everywhere.

There are forums here where you can win seeds or put your name in to be tester.

I see that regularly on assorted forums using the same XenForo software, makes me wonder if there's a flaw in the coding that let's them get their spambots in and working overtime.

True but I laugh as we fear this small stuff while the 1% launder billions.

We have a closed group in Alaska for trading. A Facebook group.

Not taboo at all in my opinion. But there are other factors to consider. Mainly what you are being sent, but also how trust worthy is the sender?
shishkaberry was a great strain!!!
