Is flushing required when growing in HEMPY?

I just had a very successful medical grow of 3 THC bomb ladies in 5 gallon hempy buckets, but my buds are somewhat harsh to smoke and does not burn to a clean gray ash like my previous dirt grows.

I think I made a fatal error in not flushing at the end of my grow, but this was my first time growing in hydro and I just thought it wasn't necessary since it wasn't necessary in my dirt grows and now I think I was wrong...

I added a PK booster that I will eliminate next grow because it's unnecessary, but I am curious to know your guys' flush routine for hempy buckets or even a recirculating system.

Also, does not flushing tend to cause the problem I'm describing? Resinous thick flowers with a strong potent scent and smoke, but harsh and burns poorly...

BTW, it was dried and cured properly. Over 2 months cure at this point and no change in burn or harshness.

if you feed any plant CHEMICAL nutrients, you NEED to flush for a clean, smooth smoke. The only case in which i don't flush is, when growing in supersoil.

Everything is made of chemicals, even water.

Flushing is only required if the medium has excessive salt buildup, but then after flushing, you should feed with the correct amount of chemicals again.

Chemicals like potassium... and calcium... ooh boy.

I think chuck has said this before:

Go burn a piece of bread or sugar and see what it smells like. Now go burn some salt and see what that smells like.

How do you think each would interfere with weed smoking if mixed in? Try mixing some sugar into a bowl and see how that improves (or ruins) your experience.

if you overfeed, your medium can get a build up, but the plant takes nutrients in after they have been broken down into a ION, big word there,look it up. After that, the ions are made into glucose thru another big word photosynthesis,look it up.

if you don't overfeed, no need to leach/flush salts from your medium.
