There's soil growing from bottled nutes, and then there's super soil true living organic growing... I've read hydro guys posts about how they've never had a plant as healthy running hydro as they did in organic living super soil. It's reusable and growing in it makes it better, it will actually remember it had marijuana in it before and grow plants better after reuse. I can only assume bottled chem nutes vs compost teas will each have a unique alteration to the flavor of the strain.

I personally have done both and Id say the last 10 years I have stuck with hydro/aero with only mom plants in soil. I find its weeks faster from start to finish. Indoors with similar lighting hydro way out does yield. I find hydro much much easier to deal with as its less work easier to correct issues and less to get rid of after grows. To me hydro tastes better then soil not that soil tastes bad but I prefer hydro buds. I also find its easier to fine tune a strain grow in hydro grows.

The very first and only time I grew indoor was 15 years ago. The girls turned hermaphrodite...??....Any-who, for some reason still today, that taste and stone is fresh in my mind like my first kiss................
After 15 years of growing outdoor (NZ has some brilliant micro climates within 20mins travel by car), I have decided to try indoor again. Half way set up with ebb and flow, perpetual cycle in 1m2 sq tent, cloning/mother tent still working on. Hope I can re-capture that smoke, without the nuts this time!

I just want to make a couple comments here. In general, hydro growth rates are considerably higher than soil, provided you have the rest of the environment dialed in. Light, co2, RH, air movement, and temp.
My other comment is to you guys talking about grams per watt. You could have 2 crops with the same yield under the same wattage, and one vegged for 2 weeks, the other no veg time at all. Grams per kilowatt hour is the real measurement of efficiency. I apologize if that was already mentioned and I missed it.

That's because what it takes to create a living Rhyzosphere in a living soil. Not easily done and not easily learned. Farmers know this, but the average Joe does not. Much easier to do Hydro at home than create a living soil. Living soil requires Myko living and symbiotic with all of the soil(compost on steroids) and is an art.

That's a good link to some college textbook info. Where's the link to actual application? The first thing that hit home was the mentioning of organic mater (organic teas) to promote life in the soil, so how's that not living soil?

I have decided to go with 100% perlite 3 gallon hempy buckets. I am using General Hydroponics nutrients and still feeding my plants (G13 Pineapple Express) everyday after two weeks. Does anybody know how long it will be until the roots reach the bottom and I can start feeding every three days or so? The plants look pretty healthy and I like not having to mess with soil. I'll upload pictures later if there is any interest.

Now you've stumped him lol. It's an art ..... WTF!!!! Ya it's almost impossible to create living soil from any of the 10,000 recipes out there. And yes tea is a great addition to a living soil grow. Just have a search of this guys threads and you'll understand

Magical soil! To each his or her own. I guess I ditched soil cause its dirty, and when it gets wet it turns to mud. I try to keep as clean of a grow as I can, and that sure is hard to do when you enter dirt into the equation. Just my opinion though.I just have to ask. How does soil remember?
