most of the mexicans coming across the border are SKILLED AGRICULTURAL WORKERS. you may not value those skills, but without the people who do those jobs youll starve. you couldnt do the job i did before the wave of illegals pushed ag wages so low i had to get certification as a PCA, and then when all the american born ag workers were ALL PCA's PCA wges started falling, and so on and so on and so on.
illegal aliens pushed out all the aamerican ag workers, and thus drove down wages across the board until we reached an equilibrium with mexico (and this is not a good thing) your lettuce may be cheap, but that cheap lettuce costs other people everything.
if/when mexico's ag workers go home, like say if a serious socialist takes over and they start re-apportioning the land in mexico, all those dudes who work the fields for a pittance will go home to work their own land, and us agriculture will collapse. your lettuce will NOT be cheap any more, and youll wind up bitching about how low YOUR wages are when you have to take out a mortgage to make a salad.
but thinking about how letting millions of people flood in to take any job but YOURS might effect the economy is too hard. you and doug stanhope probably think that chinese factory workers are just BETTER than american factory workers, and thats why all our manufacturing jobs disappeared to china... i suppose all our compute programmers just suck, and thats why so many programming jobs are draining off to india...
