Pretty close to accurate but once a tooth with a crown fails, out she comes and then it's dentures or implants for the poor buggers...it all depends on how much you can afford...but wait... they won't put implants in a smoker and not everyone can tolerate a denture, so some have to gum it and that's not fun at all...yup, brush em:)

they won't put implants in a smoker? i know 2 people who smoke and have implants. maybe they lied to the dentist, but they never brought it up.

they better not give me any shit when my teeth rot out. i already have one molar gap. if i lose another one i'm screwed.

Most Periodontist won't put implants in a smoker because smokers don't heal well, so the work is more likely to fail. If it fails, well...the patients usually blames the specialist who places them. Smokers don't heal well because smoking kills off all the little capilieries that carry blood to the gum tissue. The blood also carries white blood cells that fight bacterial infection, which is the reason people lose their teeth in the first place (periodontal disease) ...getting back to the first comment. I suspect if anything, smoking tobacco might lessen one's high because if it destroys blood supply to the mouth, I'm thinking it does to the lungs as well...so bush away and stop smoking tobacco for the best buzz.

You have to wait an hour after toking to brush your teeth. Plus, why would anyone brush their teeth with sodium fluoride ( rat poison)?

so...only because you asked "why" I'll put my two cents in. Teeth are of course made of Calcium. When the bacteria in our mouths consume a refined carb, (sugar) it produces acid as a by-product. You put acid on a calcium and it binds, so the calcium matrix that makes up out teeth disintegrates. This eventually weakens the tooth structure to the point where it collapses and a cavity is created. When you apply Fluoride too a tooth, it refills the weak matrix with the fluoride ion. Actually, the fluoride ion is stronger than the calcium ion, so a tooth treated with fluoride is stronger than one just comprised of calcium. I've done experiments where I've taken extracted teeth and treated half of them with fluoride and the other half not and put them down in Coke. With in a few days, the untreated teeth turned to Jelly, the treated teeth held out much longer. I'm not saying it good for your body to consume fluoride but I've seen first hand what it does for the teeth.
