Pic?i looked into my dried harvest while trimming and noticed this kind of white thing that looks like mold inside the bud. is it bud rot or from mites or anything else?
thx
editet first post with a pic, really looks like some cotton, indoor in my situationPic?
If it's white, it sounds more like a spider web. I have seen that in outdoor, like a tiny cotton ball in there. Gross.
thanks for the reply, i was wondering if i could save the harvest just by taking off the more damaged parts. That is indeed bud rot (botrytis). It's not poisonous so you can cut it out to salvage some smoke. Keeping the RH% below 50 during bud set and having adequate airflow to prevent micro climates will eliminate this problem in future runs.
That is no bueno sir. I'd err on the side of caution with the rest of the harvest. I've had it happen with outdoor crops before harvest and just culled the afflicted areas... It's a fine line between perfect humidity and what you had happen there.is it bud rot or from mites or anything else?
Yeah that's pretty normal till you get your drying regiment down and the drying and curing is THE most important part of the grow as it makes or breaks the quality of the finished product.i actually had trouble with keeping humidity under 60% while drying
First thing to do is get the humidity under control. I wouldn't be wanting to smoke the moldy bits but if you are hard up for some toke then smoke the non moldy bits. I would use a water pipe and definitely don't even bother if you have any mold allergies or pre existing lung issues. Don't give it to anyone without a disclosure. It doesn't produce aflatoxin but it does have spores that can cause issues with people that are allergic, have asthma and whatnot.thanks for the reply, i was wondering if i could save the harvest just by taking off the more damaged parts.
Si, es muy malo. If I still remember Spanish correct, lol. Sorry man, but like Ren said it's not the end of the world. That is no bueno sir. I cannot concur with @Renfro as to the safety of consumption of it, I honestly dont know, But me myself I personally wouldn't risk it.... Your mileage may vary
They have there place for sure. I mitigate humidity without, my space isn't worth the investment and i dont feel like dealing with the extra heat they produce. another positive is the water they capture is perfect for reusing in your growA good dehumidifier pays for itself.
Si senior . It gets the point across just fineSi, es muy malo. If I still remember Spanish correct,
Option for sure. But say bye bye to all smell and taste.Ever heard of bud washing? It's an interesting topic that might come in handy for yah. This guy breaks it down pretty well.
I haven't tried it myself so have no clue but it's still pretty interesting, lol he says "Hopefully this episode will settle it for everybody" Poor fella.Option for sure. But say bye bye to all smell and taste.
Hello there...have you done it? I have and will always. It does not remove smell or taste, or potency or any other misinformation about it out there....please do not propagate more.Option for sure. But say bye bye to all smell and taste.
I've done it , Right after I started my account here at RIU about 10 years ago, A member mentioned it to me and I tried it, It worked fine, the smoke was smooth and no noticeable difference in potency. But there is no smell or taste whatsoever . It has it's place in the tool bag but IMO it has very limited reasons why one would implement it over traditional dryingI haven't tried it myself so have no clue but it's still pretty interesting, lol he says "Hopefully this will settle it for good" Poor fella.
EDIT: sure have and it sure did. In my experience it absolutely did all I said it did above. Your experiences may varyHello there...have you done it? I have and will always. It does not remove smell or taste, or potency or any other misinformation about it out there....please do not propagate more.
I have for the last couple years...strange it did that ....I've done it , Right after I started my account here at RIU about 10 years ago, A member mentioned it to me and I tried it, It worked fine, the smoke was smooth and no noticeable difference in potency. Well in his defence, you did say ten years ago and did you try it more than once or have tried someone else's since? But also, if this is actually that beneficial...do commercial outdoor growers apply it too? If it does affect taste...wouldn't there be customer complaints from the dispensaries? There's also two different discussions going on. One where the bud wash is a solution to something (OP's case) and the other whether it may be a solution to something, however, something that isn't imperative.I've done it , Right after I started my account here at RIU about 10 years ago, A member mentioned it to me and I tried it, It worked fine, the smoke was smooth and no noticeable difference in potency.
