Crazy how nobody really can agree on when to harvest. "Pistils should ALL be red" "Pistils should disappear" "Trichomes will be mostly cloudy with a chance of meatballs".
Chop some now. Chop some in three days. Chop some next week. Especially if it's your first grow. Everybody has their preference, and how will you know what yours is unless you know?
Those buds are going to snap crackle and pop, i know that much, lol!

Wish my first grow would have looked that nice. Good job in my opinion. Calyxes aren't swelling, but some strains don't swell too much.

There are some users on here that have an imaginary PHD and everything they know and suggest is scientific fact in their mind. Lots of old growers didn't believe in dry trimming and now they're chasing their tail hanging plants for 2 weeks before trimming. There will always be know it alls that hate anyone with opposing practices or opinions, especially on RIU.

I harvest plants when the trichomes look milky, pistils are orange, calyxes are swollen up and plants have slowed or stopped drinking, usually 9-10 weeks with the strains I run. I purposely avoid Sativa dominant plants so I'm not blooming for 14 weeks.

People need to TRY things and figure out what works for them. Some of the people suggesting newbies let their "8 week" strain go for "another 3 weeks" are just going to make people discouraged when they realize the plant could've done the same or better in 9 weeks vs 12.

I look for all those characteristics, but honestly i've never had a grow where the plant stopped shooting out new pistils, or still had 40% clear trichomes, and various other things that clouded my judgment on when to harvest. If conditions are less than ideal, or the genetics are questionable, as in the OP's case the plant may not really give the proper signs. At that point, it is best to chop b4 mold sets in. (And, discouragement, as you mentioned.)

I cut one bug and try with baking powder and lemon juice, or H2o2, not working well, they are still there and will have some hiding inside the bugs too...
