is miracle grow perlite any good?

I'm mixing it with foxfarm ocean forest soil.

yes, it's good. it has mg nutes in it, but in such minute amounts that it won't hurt or help anything.

I like to put it in a strainer and shake the dust out of it, it had a tendancy to get crushed in the stores.

I use your same soil mix plus worm castings when I do my first transplant and it seems to be working great for me, I also add a little Light Warrior to the mix.
