A month or two (7-9 weeks)

Thank you sir! I'll post some pics when they get some stuff on there, gotta try and get the harvesting perfect! Another question for you guys. I see a lot of photos of whole plants being hung upside down, I assume to let the whole plant try. can I not just cut off the buds and top leaves with TCH on them and let those dry? What happens to the plant, will it die, or might it keep growing an bloom again, particularly if its in a garage where it stays warm and gets plenty of light? Thanks!!

Wow, 20/4 is sure a lot of light! Never knew they could take so much. Will do. Where can I find the guides? Not seeing a section for them of hand. Thanks!!!

Thanks kasiopeija! So I'm reading one now, How to Grow Marijuana, and it says 18/6 for veg, 12/12 for flower. This is consistent with what I remember reading. Is 20/4 20 hours light, 4 dark? And when should that be used? Mine are all autoflower, btw. thanks!

Some people run 20 hours on, 4 hours off. This is how the sun is in Alaska and places like that where some of the biggest veggies in the world are grown.

There’s debate over how much dark cannabis needs during veg.. some people run 24 hours of light, some do 20/4, and most I think do 18/6, because it’s a little cheaper on electricity bills and is still a ton of light.

From what I understand plants develop roots in dark periods so I like 18/6, but I’m going to try 20/4 soon based on the “Alaska” theory I mentioned.
That’s all for photoperiod plants, which require 12 hours of dark to flower. Autos don’t have the same requirements, and so you can run 18/6 or 20/4 the whole time, even through flower. More light = bigger buds

some of these things are just rule-of-thumbs for new growers. the 20/4 lighting schedule for automatics was designed to compensate for the weak ruderalis genes from old auto strains, that didnt grew that large.
think low ryder and such....

but if your light is strong enough, you can veg under 12/12 from seed or the Gas Lantern Routine just fine. It has to do with the capacity of storage for sugar & starches (google Daily Light Integral for more info).

If you know your strain you can actually observe some of its "hunger" for more light at the top leaves, but its difficult and may mislead...
