it should be effective i use a small inline fan with a small sealed box, not much air comes through. but it is clean air:)

I have a carbon filter on my exhaust, I guess I never thought about putting one on the intake. I have a light-trap on my intake though. Does this sound ok?

put a big garbage bag full of air around the carbon cartridge, then flip on the fan....you should be able to easily see how much air is moving about.

The filter is full of tightly packed carbon.....it sucks in the air evenly troughout the entire surface area of the filter....so yo don't feel the concentrated pressure that you would without a filter.....a good way to check the filter is to let in exhaust into the home for awhile....like 2-3 hrs....leave the home during this time......go home see if it smells.
good luck
