Hi everyone!

I'm new here so sorry if i'm asking dumb things and i'm not english native so sorry if my english is not perfect! :)

I would like to grow ONE plant in my closet.
I was thinking of a cabinet not too big. I found this one i guess it's ok but please tell me if not:

http://www.hg-hydroponics.co.uk/dr-40-grow-tent---secret-jardin-1993-p.asp

BUT my main problem is not the cabinet but the light. I've read a lot of articles but i still have no clue. First i was thinking of a 200W HPS which would be perfect i think.BUT than i have to deal with the heat and other stuffs. Than i saw it's also possible to do with LED, which looks much friendlier to me.
So i started to look for some articles and forum topics of what colour and how big led ligth would I need. And that's where my problems started.
I could not find any facts on how many watts do i need for this cabinet and only 1 plant.
I found these on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/225-LED-grow-Light-hydroponics-weed-grass-growing-lamp-/320486565729?pt=UK_HomeGarden_Garden_PlantsSeedsBulbs_JN&hash=item4a9e7ce761

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/168-LED-PAR38-GROW-LIGHT-BLUE-RED-HYDROPONIC-EMS-/300471660017?pt=UK_HomeGarden_Garden_PlantsSeedsBulbs_JN&hash=item45f581adf1

Obviously i don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on this whole growing but also i don't want to be too cheap.
The second one looks good but i have no idea if 10W is enough or not.I guess not cause everyone is talking about hundreds and thousands of W's, but i dont know for how many plants. So Please help me with this LED problem cause i definitely prefer LED instead of other lights.

Could someone please tell me what is the perfect color variation? And if these lights are not enough please tell me how many W's i have to look for.

Thanks for all your help guys.

One word of warning is DO NOT order from HG hydro, They have a very bad reputation for customer service. Wrong items delivered. Poor quality on some items. None deliveries etc etc.

Just google them and you will see.

A good LED panel will cost you around £400. But personally i wouldnt choose LED for a whole grow unless it was supplementary to HPS.

I would get yourself a SUNMASTER DUAL SPECTRUM 200W lamp, this has good amounts of Blue and Red and can be used throughout a whole grow process start to finish.
Get yourself a 200w Ballast, Magnetic or Digital its up to you and the cost,
a standard reflector usually around £15
and also something like the RVK100A1 inline fan.

THis is all you would need to be able to grow in that tent. However there is always the smell issue so if you wanted to deal with smell too then you could match a carbon filter to the RVK100A1 inline fan to make sure.

vouch except the light. if its one time grow use some cfls. 23 watts
but if you really think youll do this again go straight to the hid, dont mess with cfls.

OKay i checked the 200W light. Seems nice.
I have a few questions:

The main reason why i wanted the LEDs is the heat...if i have led i don't need the ventillation. I want to put the cabinet in a wardrobe like 50cm-50cm-150cm. (Which is the main reason why i chose this site to order from. I could not find any other cabinet that fits.) So i could have problems with the ventillation inside that wardrobe.
Am I going to have big problems with the smell?Cause i didn't want to care about that i thought this cabinet will keep most of the smell in.Won't?

I want to grow one but i want to do it continously one after another.

Tha fan is a bit expensive at first sight and the main problem is that i'm not sure it could work well in the wardrobe.

There are certain things that plants need in order to grow.

LIGHT
FOOD
Co2

Without these things plants will struggle to grow. LIght and food are not the problem the real problem is creating enough NEW air in the room to keep the plants happy.

You could avoid this by supplementing Co2 as this is what your plants ideally need. If you are not going to supplement with Co2 then you WILL need to think about creating an air exchange in your GrowDrobe. This can be simply a fan extracting your warm stale air out and a vent in your GrowDrobe at the bottom to let in new fresh air. ( this air can be drawn in from the bedroom rather than a window.)

If you are after information on LED's i suggest you search some of the better Hydro Shops online to see what they stock. Everything i have read and researched points to an LED panel being pretty much worthless unless you are spending above £400. Some of the better LED panels are upwards of £1600. Cheaper LED panels are fine for Vegging your plants but you dont get the density from LED's that you do from HID.

led lights suck, you'll grow shit bud
I agree. If/when technology improves and they can make more intense light without costing an arm and a leg. Same with CFLs. Some do OK but it takes so many of them. I don't even like CFLs for normal room lighting.
Just like technology can't yet build a good reliable and CHEAP batteries for electric cars. The concept is good, but the technology to make them good and cheap isn't here yet.

Tent looks good to me. For a light I'd go with a 150W CMH. Ceramic Metal Halide are good for veg and flowering. Quality is better too. It's 15" sq. so a 150W is plenty. That tent has the design for a couple fans. I'd go 2 or 3 seeds at first so when you sex them you can cull the male or two, and keep the female. It'd be a bummer if you had 1 and it ends up being a male. I've never used those LED, but all Buds I see from'em seem airy from them. Hope that helps.

What can i do with the smell?I want to do it in my room so with the ventillators it can be quite stinky. Any trick with the "out" ventillator?

Co2 is of NO use unless you have a sealed grow.

In order for plants to be happy they need 300ppm of Co2 which is roughly the ppm of outside air. Ambient house air contains 300-700ppm of Co2 depending on how many ppl live in your house. Plants dont use Co2 during dark so supplementing at this time would be useless .

As long as you have adequate air exchange your plants will be happy.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/90-Watt-High-Power-LED-Grow-Light-DUALBAND-630nm-90W-/280547737838?pt=UK_HomeGarden_Garden_PlantsSeedsBulbs_JN&hash=item4151f2c0ee

This is a 90W LED light.Could this be enough? If i had a led light i wouldn't need cooling, and ballast.
I just don't know how many W do i need for a LED light?
I'm looking into LED's at the moment, and this seems viable. I know that they should be at least 1w per LED, and am looking for ones that have a wider angle and are within the right spectrum. But this is a dualband and ideally I think you want 2 blue spectrums and 2 red to cover the 4 peaks of clorophyll uptake. Also it is mass produced in China which makes me think that it's probably not great quality.

Can anyone point me to a thread or journal where someone is using just a 90w UFO (or similar) to flower? All the results I have seen are using 200w + and comparing results to a 400w HID, whereas manufacturers seem to claim a 90w LED can produce similar to a 400w HPS.
