True story, I got a buddy that leaves his zipper undone and doesn't worry about it so I'm sure consistency plays a part too. If they are exposed to minor leaks the whole time vs complete darkness and then sudden exposure.Unlike most, I don't follow the light leak thing like most people. my tent has holes and an open door due to broken zippers. I believe it to be genetics that produce hermaphrodite due to stress. I don't get herms. Now that i say this, i will lmao.View attachment 4423066
I didnt think it was a big deal either but I learned first hand that it is important. I'm about to start my second grow but in my very first grow I grew out four plants: two were hybrids, one indica and one sativa. I was growing in a bedroom with no A/C and no inline fan. In order to keep good airflow I would keep the windows and the door to the bedroom open. It wasnt completely dark but imo it seemed dark enough. I didnt see a problem in veg at all but when I switched to 12/12 the two hybrids and one Indica began to flower slowly but the sativa just continued to veg. After about six weeks the other three plants were flowering but the sativa was still vegging and it was getting huge. I contacted the company (Connoisseur Genetics) and explained my problem. Dude asked me if my room was completely dark and I told him no. He said to make sure the room was totally dark during lights out. I did so and within three days the plant finally started flowering. I noticed the other plants started to look a lot better afterwards as well. This incident helped me to realize the importance of total darkness during lights out.My buddy bought a couple clones and is growing them out. He is skeptical that you have to keep a 12-hour period of darkness and avoid light leaks during flower. I will forward your responses to him. Am I full of shit or are these things fairly important?
