Where is John the Baptist; are you John the Baptist; is the Artist Prince John the Baptist, is John McCain John the Baptist?
What does it mean to be John the Baptist? To allow the will of the Holy Spirit to use you to prepare the way for the Coming and/or Revelation of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
" (the spirit of) 'John' the Baptist Prepares the Way "
Matthew chapter 3:1 12
In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the Desert of Judea and saying, Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near. v.3 This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah:
A voice of one calling in the desert,
Prepare the way for the Lord,
make straight paths for him.
Johns clothes were made of camels hair, and he had a leather belt around his waist. His food was locust and wild honey. v.5 People went out to him from Jerusalem and all Judea and the whole region of the Jordan. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River.
v.7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to where he was baptizing, he said to them: You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath? Produce fruit in keeping with repentance.
v.9 And do not think you can say to yourselves, We have Abraham as our father. I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham. The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.
v.11 I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me will come one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire.
The Baptism of Jesus
Matthew chapter 3:13 17
v.13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. But John tried to deter him, saying, I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?
v.15 Jesus replied, Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness. Then John consented.
As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lightening on him.
v.17 And a voice from heaven said, This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.
Jesus and John the Baptist
Matthew chapter 11:1 19
After Jesus had finished instructing his twelve disciples, he went on from there to teach and preach in the towns of Galilee.
When John heard in prison what Christ was doing, he sent his disciples to ask him, Are you the one who was to come, or should we expect someone else?
Jesus replied, Go back and report to John what you hear and see:
v.5 The blind receives sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor. Blessed is the man who does not fall away on account of me.
v.7 As Johns disciple were leaving, Jesus began to speak to the crowd about John: What did you go out into the desert to see? A reed swayed by the wind? If not, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? No, those who wear fine clothes are in kings palaces.
v.9 Then what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. This is the one about whom it is written:
I will send my messenger ahead of
you,
who will prepare your way before
you.
v.11 I tell you the truth: Among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it.
v.13 For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John. And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come.
v.15 He who has ears, let him hear.
To what can I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling out to others:
v.17 We played the flute for you,
and you did not dance;
we sang a dirge,
and you did not mourn.
For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He has a demon.
v.19 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners. But wisdom is proved right by her actions.
Jesus Teaches Nicodemus
John 3:1-21 Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a member of the Jewish ruling council. He came to Jesus at night and said, Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the miraculous signs, you are doing if God were not with him.
v.3 In reply Jesus declared, I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.
How can a man be born when he is old? Nicodemus asked, Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mothers womb to be born!
v.5 Jesus answered, I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he be born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but Spirit gives birth to spirit.
v.7 You should not be surprised at my saying, You must be born again. The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.
v.9 How can this be? Nicodemus asked.
You are Israels teacher, said Jesus, and do you not understand these things?
v.11 I tell you the truth, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony. I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things?
v.13 No one has ever gone to heaven except the one who came from heaven-the Son of Man must be lifted up,
v.15 that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.
For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
v.17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of Gods [firstborn] one and only Son.
v.19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.
v.21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.
The Firstborn Son of God Promises the Holy Spirit
v.17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
v.19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.
v.21 Whoever has my commands and obey them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.
Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?
v.23 Jesus replied, If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will make our home with Him. He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.
v.25 All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
v.27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
You heard me say, I am going away and I am coming back to you. If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.
v.29 I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe. I will not speak with you much longer, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold on me,
v.31 but the world must learn that I love the Father and that I do exactly what my Father has commanded me.
Come now let us leave.
Love God;
Homage your love ones to God;
Worship God thru your loved ones,
Mark Daniels
