Is the Quantum Badboy T5 worth the extra $$$?

I'm looking at 4' 4 bulb T5s, and I'm seeing the most hype surrounding the Quantum Badboy. It looks good, but I don't really understand what makes it any better than any other ones. Plus, I'd like to be able to get one with the daisy-chaining feature, which it doesn't look like the Badboy has.

Is it really worth it to shell out some extra for one of these things? What do they do that a "lesser" T5 doesn't?

I run the Hydrofarm t5s in veg and have for years. I checked out the badboy and seems to have some cool features but not enough for me to switch up. They produce the same lumens and can run the same bulbs so that to me is all that matters.

Do you run the designer hydrofarm, or the regular one? Isn't the designer one the only one that has the daisy-chaining option? I also heard something about the reflectors in the designer series being better as well.

Can you mention what features the badboy has that are worthwhile? I'm trying to figure out what I need, and what is important to me.

Designer . The bad boy does seem to have a nicer ballast but I have run these for years and they never failed. The way they double up there bulbs seems kind of cool also. But like I said not really worth the cash unless you have money to spare. T5 is t5 at the end of the day.

Jericho: there are a lot of good T-5 fixtures on the market. You might want to take a look at what your local hydro stores are offering before you go the the internet. There's nothing like seeing it first hand and walking out the door with it compared to waiting three to six weeks and then being disappointed. I hope that helps. Hank

This seems like good advice, but i had already decided to go with the hydrofarm designer 4ft x 4 bulb. Even with cost not being a factor, it just seemed like a safer bet.

I'm not sure to what extent having a bright orange fixture with "Badboy" scribbled on the side was a deterrent...
