Is there a common ground for lollipoping a plant

Ok roll it up crew, need some extra advise on this one. As I am still a newbie by all standards and also and more confined to a grow box I am in need of some extra training. I do too my plants and also LST but was not sure what the rule of thumb for lollipoping was. I have heard everything from the bottom 3rd nose and below to first node and below, I guess this would depend on the height? I would love to hear any pointers that can be offered any thing helps.

Just take off the lower stuff that is in deep shade from the upper canopy. It's not photosynthesizing much and the plant is wasting energy keeping those leaves.

There isn't really a hard and fast rule, just take what's not helping you and open it up for better light and air.
