Is this a good grow tent kit to use for clones??

yes this is just a decently sized tent all around... DO you already have a grow room? I put clones in a rubber maid with 6 cfls and move them over to the cabinet when they are done! this looks nice space wise you can get the get pretty tall!

This will be my first grow, other than my attempt at an outdoor grow.

I was planning on either putting the tent in a closet or just keeping it in a spare bedroom. Do I need more space other than the grow tent?

depending on the temperatures of the room you're in you may need a AC if it's too hot! youll need to exhaust air out of the tent to somewhere else...if you plan to jsut veg in that you dont really need a carbon filter but if you are worried about the smell id look for a package with a llight carbonfilter package!

No it does not mean you cant grow in soil in there. In the case of grow tents "hydroponic" is just a word they add in to get more search results. You can grow in soil or hydro in any tent.
When you say you are getting some clones, do you mean you are going to use this tent to clone in, or keep clones in or do you plan on growing through veg and flower in this size tent?

Oh okay, thank you for the clarification!
I will be purchasing clones to keep in the tent for veg & flowering. Or am I supposed to do something different for that?

How do I go about exhausting the air out?

With that tent it looks like it has PC(computer) fans attached to it to vent air in and out.
I asked about flowering because the tent is only 4 feet tall. It states in the advert that you can keep 4 medium sized plants in there. You could put 4 clones in there and flower them straight away. It is too small to veg them or grow them any bigger. The truth is you could put 4 tiny plant in there. If that's what you want to do then that's cool, I just don't want you to believe everything the add says.
Also the price is high, you get a reflector and some tiny fans and a tent, you don't get a bulb with it. If I look on ebay there will be the same tent on its own for $50-60 dollars, they have added a few fans that cost a few dollars and a reflector that cost $15 and somehow decided it is worth $190. They are over charging

If you want to grow some small plants then there are better options than that tent.
Do you know what sort of light you want to use or do you have an idea of how much weed you want to grow?

You could do something this size in there


I don't want to discourage you in any way, its just the advert is a bit miss leading and a bit expensive.

I want to yield as much as possible. So I guess a bigger tent would be my go to. Do you have any recommendations on what kind to buy?
I'm very new to all of this so I'm not sure what kind of lights or anything to purchase either if you wouldn't mind helping a newb out!

If you have your own place and you want to grow a good supply for you with plenty to spare rather than a micro grow like above and you can fit it into a spare room.
Then you could buy a 4x4 foot tent, 7-8 foot high. a 600w hps is a cheap enough option for a beginner, or if your climate is hot a 400w will still produce good size plants. you could go with a 3foot x 3 foot for a 400w.
You then would need a 5 inch inline fan and a carbon filter.
If you don't have much space you can go smaller and buy a few CFLs or LED.
There will be noise involved with a good fan and filter, that is unavoidable. If noise is an issue then you would be better with a micro stealth grow but something wider than the tent you were looking at. In that case CFL would be a good way to go, probably 150w.

If you tell me how much space you can use and wether or not it has to be hidden from parents/housemates ect I can try and advise more specifically

hey guys, just wanted to chime in a couple of things, I was reading through, and noticed you said you have an extra bedroom, so you could use that and save the cost of a tent. Coreywebster was extremely right about the tent size, I had a friend buy a tent that was actually bigger than this. it was 24 by 48 by 48. same height just twice as wide, and he couldnt properly get one plant to pop into flower and produce a decent amount because of the limited space, he sold it to me for 40 bucks and I use it strictly as a one week clone tent until I transfer them out of the cups I get them in and put them into their veg pots. then the tent is off until my next clones arrive.

I have a friend who uses this setup next to a 4 by 8 tent. he grows 12 plants (Michigans legal limit) and produced a couple of pounds per cycle off of the two lights. He also just switched to thousand watts (obviously more expensive and needs bigger fans as well) and got even more. 4 plants fit into his 4x4 tent. a bit snug, but they still produce.

given the fact I missed the spare room comment, you can go as big as you like. as a newb, a 4x4x8foot tent with 5inch fan and filter and a 600w hps will be good value for money and can get you up to a pound of good quality dry bud in one grow.

@DirtyD313 that is what I have, its actualy a 1.2m x 2.4m x 2m but roughly the same size give or take a few inch. 3x600w hps in cool tubes with one grow finishing every 3-4 weeks perpetually growing

struggling to find a carbon filter at my end, I'm in the uk. everything comes up from uk

Okay great, Thank you.
I was leaning more towards the tent because even though, it is an extra room just wanted optimal security. Even though I plan on getting a lock put on the door. I live in my parents house still

you need, filter , fan, light. an oscillating desk type fan to move air about and blow on the plants.
Then nutrients to feed them, pots to grow in, something like coco to plant into.

If you still live with your parents and they are not cool with growing then I would go with a smaller tent or closet grow and look at some of the stealth builds on here.

In all honesty if you don't want your parents to know then a small closet grow stealth grow is the only way forward. It is hard to hide the noise of a good fan and filter. If you go stealth then a tent like you originally posted but wider will be quieter. it has small fans that are low noise, you would need ona gel to stop smell because those little fans wont work with a carbon filter and in that size tent 150w max cfl bulb.

Up to you which direction you go. they are your parents, only you know what they will or wont accept in their house.
